Bonus Episode: "Hey I Think This Might Be a Thing" #376

I lead with the main point: Arc Raiders will receive a major update on October 8 and a PvE‑only test will run October 13–20. I explain why a dedicated PvE mode could bring many players back and stabilize the game. I say Embark should separate PvE and PvP and add more rewarding projects so players have clear reasons to play. We describe the new map Frozen Trail, new weapons, and quality‑of‑life changes coming in the update. I ask Destiny players if they would return to Arc Raiders if a permanent PvE mode exists and invite feedback via our Discord, email, or voicemail. We also note that we go live twice per month and that I am considering adding a shorter mid‑month pre‑recorded check‑in as a regular fixture. I close by saying we are excited for the update and hope Embark listens to the community.

What’s up Guardians, and welcome to the newly branded Guardian Down Roundtable! We’ve spent nearly seven years as the Guardian Down Cast show focusing on Destiny, but now we’re taking a more broad overview of the entire gaming hobby.

We go live every other Thursday at 9 PM Eastern on my ToddtheGatr YouTube and Twitch channels, as well as our Discord Live Stage. Once a month, we invite a new member from our Discord community to pull up a chair and share their own story with us. We are a live video show with an audio version available every Monday morning. We love the live shows but we love interacting with the live chat even more, so jump in, give us your input!

Speaker B

Okay, you can unpause your show now.

Speaker B

Later, Guardians.

Speaker B

Before we get into this week's topic, I wanted to give a movie review this week since we weren't doing a live show and my wife and I, using our AMC stubs, A List membership where we can see up to four movies every week, any format or screen and no online reservation fees.

Speaker B

No, I don't get paid to say that.

Speaker B

I just am a fan.

Speaker B

But we saw in a movie at the theaters called Prime Time.

Speaker B

It stars Robert Pattinson who plays the popular host of To Catch a Predator television show.

Speaker B

His name was Chris Hansen.

Speaker B

The movie starts out by jumping right into the action whereby young actors chat with child molesters.

Speaker B

Pretty much they chat with them online and act as bait to lure these predators into a house whereby cameras are placed everywhere.

Speaker B

And then when the predator commits and enters the house, that's when it's Chris Hansen's turn to come out and confront them, reciting their online comments to shame them to confess.

Speaker B

Usually local law enforcement is waiting for him outside as they flee the house as well.

Speaker B

That's kind of the gist of the television show for those of you who have never seen it here in America.

Speaker B

Rotten Tomatoes gave this one 86% certified fresh from the critics and the audience slightly less at 79.

Speaker B

But overall I, I kind of knew what to expect in this movie.

Speaker B

But what I didn't realize is how messed up the producers and hosts lives were in real life.

Speaker B

It's kind of sad to be honest.

Speaker B

I don't want to spoil too much here in case you, you know, it's on your movie list.

Speaker B

But it had an irony towards the end that was.

Speaker B

It was kind of fitting.

Speaker B

I enjoyed the film and it delivered what it promised.

Speaker B

But I don't know if I'm going to remember this one for my year end top 10 list.

Speaker B

We'll see.

Speaker B

I guess.

Speaker B

I give this one three and a half stars.

Speaker B

It was good, but not great.

Speaker B

If you see it, hey, let me know what you thought about it.

Speaker B

The Saturday Night Raid crew was present this Saturday.

Speaker B

I did stream it on my Todd the gator Twitch and YouTube channels if you want to catch it.

Speaker B

We got a newer member of our community.

Speaker B

His name was Law.

Speaker B

Shout out to Law.

Speaker B

We got him through a desert perpetual raid and boy, I gotta say, I was brushing off the rust.

Speaker B

It's weird how rusty you can get if you haven't played a particular raid for A while.

Speaker B

We've been so focused on the Pantheon raid encounters over the past month or so.

Speaker B

I think I forgot some of my roles on Desert Perpetual.

Speaker B

I, I don't know why, but maybe as I get older it's just harder to remember what I need to do and all the mechanics of these raids.

Speaker B

It also reminds me of how mechanic driven a lot of the newer raids are now versus the older ones.

Speaker B

I don't know, I, I, I think there's a little bit more nuance to the newer raids, but maybe that's just me, I don't know.

Speaker B

But you know, I have double digit runs on this raid as a perpetual and I don't know.

Speaker B

For some reason I was struggling.

Speaker B

Anyway, it's been a busy work week for me as I was scrambling to finish up my monthly client list.

Speaker B

It's, you know, it's the end of the month.

Speaker B

It's been on and off rain this past week.

Speaker B

Some days it threatened rain but didn't and other days it came down in the afternoon right on time.

Speaker B

We did finally get a taste of fall and we got some drier 82 degree days with the humidity was a little bit less, I don't want to say the N word, but a little bit less humidity in the air.

Speaker B

But it was very short lived here in Florida.

Speaker B

We were soon back to near 90 and that good old stagnant humidity was back.

Speaker B

Okay, enough about my week.

Speaker B

Let's get into this week's topic.

Speaker C

Hello out there, this is Allie Kate and you're listening to the Guardian Down Roundtable.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker B

With the new update to Arc Raiders coming next week, as I record this on October 3rd, I wanted to express my take with the Arc Raiders game.

Speaker B

But coming from the perspective of a 12 year Destiny veteran, you know, I got nearly 10,000 hours of playtime invested in this game, and that's on one account.

Speaker B

But Destiny has been one of the most engaging games I can ever remember playing.

Speaker B

I mean, you'd have to go all the way back to my early, early online experiences.

Speaker B

Like the original Call of Duty Modern Warfare.

Speaker B

The new Arc Raiders Update arrives on October 8th with an entirely new map, new weapons, new quality of life updates, and new ways to play the game.

Speaker B

And while I'm excited to see what Embark has been working on for this past six months, there's been quite the controversy whether the game should offer a PvE only mode versus, you know, the usual tension between players in the current extraction game that it is on October 13th through October 20th, which is a one week period.

Speaker B

Embark is testing a PvE only mode where there's zero friendly fire or player damage and the only damage you're going to take is from arc enemies or in the case of where you fail to grapple correctly and fall five stories to your death.

Speaker B

I mean, not saying I've ever done that, but I've heard other people have anyway, but players that enjoy that PvE only aspect of Arc Raiders, they're applauding this test and they want a permanent map condition where this is the case.

Speaker B

But I'm quoting from Dutch Butters.

Speaker B

He's a.

Speaker B

He's a content creator podcaster for the Arc Raiders game and he put out a tweet that really got a lot of attention lately and I just wanted to read it out here real quick.

Speaker B

He says, I don't think Embark is ready for what is about to happen when that PvE toggle goes live on October 13th.

Speaker B

I already have people in my community who reinstalled Arc Raiders just off the announcement alone, not when it launches off the announcement.

Speaker B

There is a massive audience of players who love the gameplay, love the world, love the co op, but they bounced because they didn't want to deal with PvP extraction pressure every single session.

Speaker B

Those people never stopped watching.

Speaker B

They were just waiting for a reason to come back.

Speaker B

This test is that reason.

Speaker B

If the numbers spike the way I think they will, Embark is going to realize that they've been sitting on an untapped player base this whole time.

Speaker B

PvE players spend money, PvE players stick around, PvE players build communities, make it permanent at Embark Studios, unquote.

Speaker B

We Destiny players know all about that, right?

Speaker B

As most of us play PvE games in the Destiny franchise over the years.

Speaker B

But after seeing that post, it made me think what has made Destiny such a success for over a decade?

Speaker B

And by the way, it's coming back to be determined.

Speaker B

We're supposed to hear an announcement sometime in October, I believe, but as an outsider to this community that has played over a hundred hours of the game now here's my take on it.

Speaker B

You know, when I first jumped into Arc Raiders back in March of this year, I was already behind so many other players that played the game when it was released in late 2025.

Speaker B

I mean, I really didn't grab on to the game until a friend of mine shout out to Elmer Fudd Games.

Speaker B

He put on a friendly tournament where pairs of players would compete on total money farmed for a specified two hours of the game.

Speaker B

And these were all public servers, so if you went down and got killed, that's on you at $0.

Speaker B

But shout out to my to my partner, native Raider.

Speaker B

I mean, from that moment I was hooked.

Speaker B

I then jumped in and played over 100 hours consistently, but I only played solo.

Speaker B

I spent those valuable 30 minutes exploring all parts of these rich and enormous maps.

Speaker B

You know, being that ex developers from DICE had made this game, it brought me right back to those rich gun battles.

Speaker B

I remember playing for hours in Battlefield three, Battlefield four.

Speaker B

You know, the epic team battles using all kinds of killing power.

Speaker B

Whether it was a tank, a plane, a helicopter, boats, or the plentiful supply of weapons with endless upgrades to each individual weapon.

Speaker B

There were so many things to unlock on that one aspect alone.

Speaker B

It kept me playing for hundreds of hours.

Speaker B

Now, Battlefield players don't hate me here, but I think the new Battlefield games, they're just not the same.

Speaker B

They think they missed the point here.

Speaker B

The content is much shallower and the progression has definitely been very much neutered.

Speaker B

I mean, that's just my opinion.

Speaker B

It's the reason I haven't been playing Battlefield 6 lately.

Speaker B

But going back to the Arc Raiders game, man, there is such a blank canvas to work on in this game.

Speaker B

But I think there's two things that Embark needs to focus on for it to become that 10 year franchise that they were touting it would be back in 2025.

Speaker B

Number one, they need to do what Bungie has done with the Destiny game since day one, and that is to separate PvE and PvP.

Speaker B

Now, I know some of you are yelling at the screen right now, but hear me out.

Speaker B

The magic of the Destiny game, the secret sauce, if you will, was that you could jump into the PvE Worlds of Destiny and whatever loot you obtained from that world, you could bring right into the PvP arena that created so much content right there on its own.

Speaker B

I would see PvP players, content creators who played only PvP, jumping into raids, dungeons and even strikes just to get that God roll that they know would give them that chance to win that 1v1 gun battle.

Speaker B

You know, on the PvP maps that were out there.

Speaker B

I'll admit to one other thing that you probably don't know about me, and that is I have never knocked out a player in Arc Raiders.

Speaker B

Gasp.

Speaker B

Clutch my pearls.

Speaker B

I mean, okay, because I just admitted that to you.

Speaker B

I'm sure the PvP players are probably saying right about now this dude doesn't even PvP, so why should he have an opinion on player damage in the game?

Speaker B

Well, I'll tell you, because while I have over 10,000 hours playing Destiny Raids, strikes, dungeons and even simple patrols in Destiny.

Speaker B

I also have over 1500 hours playing the Crucible, which is Destiny's dedicated PvP mode.

Speaker B

They have their own special maps to boot.

Speaker B

Hey, I love PvP and Destiny and I think for an older dude I can hold my own.

Speaker B

I'm not just some dad gamer schlub that just gets rolled whenever there's a gunfight either.

Speaker B

I have purposely made the decision to only help other players in Arc Raiders and never affect their experience with the game.

Speaker B

Why?

Speaker B

Because Impark told us before they even launched their game that it was created as a co op shooter from the get go.

Speaker B

The PvP element was only added after the fact to make the game more quote exciting.

Speaker B

I'm sorry, I'm calling bullshit here.

Speaker B

Those 30 minute raids that I embark on.

Speaker B

Get it?

Speaker B

Embark.

Speaker B

Okay, I'm sorry but that 30 minute window on the top side world where I have to navigate around Ark wherever they may be.

Speaker B

Whether I'm collecting something or killing a specific Ark with a specific weapon, or just discovering a new area that I ran by, you know, because you only have 30 minutes before you gotta extract or you die to a nuclear explosion.

Speaker B

That alone was so much content to play and every raid was different.

Speaker B

I think the magic sauce of Arc Raiders is the Ark themselves, their behavior.

Speaker B

This was a key machine learning element that Destiny so needed with their worlds.

Speaker B

They even talked about it at some point, how it was going to adapt to player behavior and reactions just never was.

Speaker B

Never came to be.

Speaker B

I mean Destiny enemies are pretty dumb.

Speaker B

You know exactly where they're coming from.

Speaker B

They just stand out there in the open.

Speaker B

They're pretty much fodder for Seasoned Guardian.

Speaker B

That's what we call ourselves in the game as players.

Speaker B

For those of you who don't play Destiny.

Speaker B

When I first encountered a leaper, I was intrigued how it tried to get me and survive as I was picking it apart with my weapons.

Speaker B

I have a video of a leaper bouncing down a stairwell in Buried City with no frickin legs.

Speaker B

It was so determined to get me with its area of effect weapon that just kept coming.

Speaker B

That is the experience I yearn for machine learning with world enemies.

Speaker B

It's a special feature that Embark created and I think we'll see more of this in future games.

Speaker B

If it's not already here.

Speaker B

When enemies start thinking for themselves and not run on some pre programmed track or route, then we should be genuinely excited to play that PvE game.

Speaker B

Bungie, are you listening?

Speaker B

Embark is killing it with these enemies.

Speaker B

And for Those of you PvPers out there that say, oh, you PvEers, you're going to be bored in a month with this mode.

Speaker B

Nope, I won't be.

Speaker B

I mean, I've been playing this way already.

Speaker B

There's already a hidden PvP mode in these games.

Speaker B

It's the competition among other raiders to get that loot.

Speaker B

For those of you that have played Arc Raiders, have you remember going into a facility on damn battlegrounds only to find out that another Raider has already went through it and took all the good stuff in the drawers?

Speaker B

That's your competition.

Speaker B

Have you ever witnessed the mad dash to get that queen's core after five or six Raiders all work together to, you know, to destroy it and take it down?

Speaker B

That's the PvP element, not some rat shooting you while you're looting a leaper that you just emptied all your weapons into to take down all by yourself.

Speaker B

That's the point at which I turn the game off and I boot up something else.

Speaker B

Now, speaking of getting bored, here's the second thing that I think Embark needs to put into their games to keep Raiders playing, to keep things interesting.

Speaker B

I really think this will keep players engaged for hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Speaker B

We love projects, we love completing quests, we love to gather resources.

Speaker B

I mean, remember, we're risking our loadouts in this dangerous topside world, by the way.

Speaker B

But if we're going to get a reward for it, there's the thing I also want to mention too.

Speaker B

I didn't complete the last project in Arc Raiders.

Speaker B

I know I've completed all of them.

Speaker B

I've got all the.

Speaker B

I got all the rep score to buy everything from all the cards that had all the extra cosmetic stuff.

Speaker B

I did everything.

Speaker B

I did everything.

Speaker B

But I didn't complete that last project.

Speaker B

You know why?

Speaker B

Because of the number one rule in any game that includes loot, you have to offer a reward that is worth players putting in the time to complete, whether it's a quest, a project, or just a plain objective.

Speaker B

Embark, if you're listening, someone out there is listening.

Speaker B

From Embark, you have been way too conservative with your projects and quests.

Speaker B

You gotta give us something exciting to earn, whether it's a hard to get weapon or just some cosmetic item to flaunt to other raiders that said, yeah, I did complete that thing.

Speaker B

The last project to me just wasn't rewarding enough to invest my time into, so I didn't do it.

Speaker B

Sorry, Embark, I'm just being honest here.

Speaker B

I can imagine playing a PvE version of Arc Raiders and having not one, but several projects to work on all the time.

Speaker B

If one project doesn't interest you, there are five others that you might want to complete because they offer you that reward that's important to you.

Speaker B

Embark.

Speaker B

You could continually add more projects into the game with little minor updates.

Speaker B

And it'll keep us scavengers working for material for months to come.

Speaker B

This is kind of the problem that Destiny 2 had at the end of its life.

Speaker B

And again, it's coming back soon to be announced.

Speaker B

There just wasn't enough content to play at the end of the game.

Speaker B

I mean, in Destiny 2, at the very end, there wasn't enough content to play at the end of the game.

Speaker B

There was nothing really to work towards.

Speaker B

And once Bungie released its last update, when the devs, remember, threw everything but the kitchen sink at it.

Speaker B

With all these rewards you can earn, there's so many things you could work towards.

Speaker B

Only then did guardians come back to the game and start investing their time again.

Speaker B

And why today's numbers are so much better than they were in the episodic years.

Speaker B

So this is my take as an outsider looking into the arc raiders community.

Speaker B

Hey, I've bought into the story.

Speaker B

I love the lore.

Speaker B

I love the storyline.

Speaker B

The dystopian worlds reminds me so much of the matrix.

Speaker B

You know, when everybody lived underground and you would take these ships into the outer worlds that were so dangerous.

Speaker B

It just reminds me so much of the matrix.

Speaker B

It's such a great story.

Speaker B

It's such a great concept for a video game.

Speaker B

It really is.

Speaker B

I bought into it.

Speaker B

When I'm on top of that world, I really feel like I'm up top of that world.

Speaker B

I really feel like there's danger all around.

Speaker B

My head's on a swivel.

Speaker B

I'm looking at the clock.

Speaker B

You know, I love timers, but I don't mind timers if.

Speaker B

If it's just right there at the top.

Speaker B

That kind of.

Speaker B

I don't know, it kind of make keeps me disciplined to get what I need to get and get out.

Speaker B

I kind of like that aspect of arc raiders, even though it was never really an aspect in Destiny 2.

Speaker B

I know they're different games.

Speaker B

I realize that.

Speaker B

And I realize that God, rolls of weapons and stuff don't apply really to arc raiders because arc raiders has a certain set of weapons.

Speaker B

And yes, you can.

Speaker B

You can upgrade them, but everybody needs materials.

Speaker B

Everybody needs things to upgrade things to make them better.

Speaker B

So this is my take as an outsider looking into the arc raiders community.

Speaker B

These two things, in my opinion, they'll bring back the game to its near original glory because not everybody's coming back, but they can march on to that 10 year project that they talked about so much last year.

Speaker B

I really hope that Embarks sees this video or hears this bonus podcast episode.

Speaker B

This is the vision I see for the future of this game as a longtime Destiny Guardian.

Speaker B

For those raiders who enjoy PvP, there always be a place for you.

Speaker B

But for those of us who just want to put in a few raids after a long day of work, there will also be that world for you to discover with lots of projects and stuff to do other than just killing Ark, which by itself is a lot of fun.

Speaker B

And they have new Ark coming out in Frozen Trail which comes out on October 8th.

Speaker B

I'm excited for it, I really am, but as this is the early years for Embark, I see so many similarities between them and Bungie trying to keep players busy in an online live service game.

Speaker B

And for me I really think this would do it.

Speaker B

At least it would be in the right direction.

Speaker B

So here's my question to all of you Destiny players out there.

Speaker B

Whether you've played Arc Raiders or not, if you knew that Arc Raiders would have a dedicated PvE only experience going forward, would you jump into it and try it?

Speaker B

It's like 40 bucks.

Speaker B

It's not even very expensive, but my God, the content.

Speaker B

I'm really curious.

Speaker B

Let me know.

Speaker B

You can submit your answers in our Guardian Down Roundtable Show Feedback channel in our Discord community or send me an email or a voicemail.

Speaker B

Think of it as talking with us right on the show.

Speaker B

Hey, we love voicemails, so let's hear them.

Speaker B

Thanks for listening.

Speaker B

And later Guardian.

Speaker B

Hey, before I go, I had some voicemail questions come into the show this week and I wanted to share it with all of you.

Speaker B

So here goes.

Speaker C

Hello, skimmingdesk here and we have the News of old Destiny coming back and some possibilities of new Destiny, no idea.

Speaker C

But now that's happened, I'm thinking about maybe upgrading to a PS5.

Speaker C

I'd love to have a PS5 Pro, but I'd like to ask you guys, is it worth it?

Speaker C

There's got to be an extra 400 quid on top of a PS5, the base model.

Speaker C

So do you reckon it's worth it?

Speaker C

I know, Gator, you've got a PS5 Pro.

Speaker C

Does it make that much difference or is it just worth buying the base model?

Speaker C

And it's going to be an upgrade from what I've got anyway in it.

Speaker C

And to play Destiny in 60 frames a second, that'll be class.

Speaker C

So, yeah, my question is, is it worth the Pro?

Speaker C

Is it worth all that money?

Speaker C

Or just buy the base model.

Speaker C

I'll pay it off every month over the course of a year or something and, you know, it'll make my games look a lot better.

Speaker C

I suppose so, yeah.

Speaker C

Dunno, I'm a little bit torn.

Speaker C

Or I could go into the buddy's room and just steal his PS5.

Speaker C

Yeah, I might do that.

Speaker C

Steal his PS5 and install Destiny.

Speaker C

Hmm.

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker C

Let us know.

Speaker C

Is the Pro worth it or not?

Speaker C

Not sure.

Speaker C

Probably not.

Speaker C

But yeah.

Speaker C

Anyway, love y'.

Speaker A

All.

Speaker B

Thanks, Uncle Scum Death, for that question.

Speaker B

Well, let's see.

Speaker B

It currently stands, the PlayStation 5 prices right now.

Speaker B

I'm just looking it up in America, so just probably less for you guys over in the uk, because the pound is worth more than the dollar, I would say.

Speaker B

Let's see, PlayStation 5, the slim digital edition console, has 825 gigabytes.

Speaker B

I think mine has the 2 terabyte in it.

Speaker B

I can't remember, to be honest.

Speaker B

It's $599.99.

Speaker B

And that is at one of the local retailers here, the PlayStation 5 disc console Slim has a terabyte in it, is $649.99, $50 more, basically.

Speaker B

And then the PlayStation 5 Pro console with two terabytes, that's the one I'm talking about, is currently $699.

Speaker B

But I've seen prices go as far as $899.99 because of GTA 6 coming out.

Speaker B

And they've promised a lot of extra little goodies for the PlayStation 5 Pro console owners.

Speaker B

A lot of them have gotten sold out.

Speaker B

Scum Death.

Speaker B

So it's up to you.

Speaker B

I think getting the disc for $50 more is worth it if you can find it, because, hey, I mean, we all have Blu Rays, right?

Speaker B

If you want to play a Blu Ray, you don't have to worry about having a Blu Ray player.

Speaker B

It's right there.

Speaker B

I will tell you this.

Speaker B

I have a regular PlayStation 5 with the disc in my living room where my big screen TV is.

Speaker B

And I can play, you know, movies.

Speaker B

I've got a huge collection of Blu Ray movies and stuff.

Speaker B

I can play those anytime I want.

Speaker B

The PlayStation Pro does not have a disc.

Speaker B

It sits right here in my office where I game with my 120 frame 120Hz monitor.

Speaker B

I think it's like 28 inch.

Speaker B

I think it really is what you prefer.

Speaker B

I will say this.

Speaker B

I played Arc Raiders with the new PSSR which is supposedly the upgrade for the PlayStation 5 Pros.

Speaker B

But I just heard that they offered a PlayStation 5 Normal console.

Speaker B

That PSSR upgrade I can.

Speaker B

Well, here, I'll give you a difference.

Speaker B

When I play Arc Raiders and it's raining, you can actually see the drops on your screen.

Speaker B

It's the weirdest thing, man.

Speaker B

It's hard to explain, but if you're into, if you're a little geeky into stuff like that, having that, those little extra details in the game, then maybe just, I mean if you're going to pay it over time, then maybe just get what you want, man.

Speaker B

I mean, you work hard for your money, brother, you decide what you want to get, but that's basically what you're getting.

Speaker B

The nice thing about the PS5 Pro console is that you're getting a 2 terabyte SSD in it built in.

Speaker B

And from what I hear, you can upgrade that.

Speaker B

But I don't know if you've seen the price of RAM lately.

Speaker B

That might be worth it right there.

Speaker B

699 Is at is an online store, right?

Speaker B

That's the best price I've seen.

Speaker B

But be prepared to pay $99.99 for it if you really want it.

Speaker B

But honestly, just a regular PS5 with the disc in it for what, 650 bucks?

Speaker B

I think that's worth it.

Speaker B

If you want to get the same gaming experience in a PC, you're probably going to spend a minimum of a couple grand.

Speaker B

So it's still beneficial to get a PlayStation console if console is your thing.

Speaker B

You like using the controllers and yes, Kingsley, before you say anything in the comments, I know you can play a lot of Steam games on console, I get that.

Speaker B

But it's nice having it native to the machine, you know.

Speaker B

And uncle scum desk like me, he's an old PlayStation fan like I am and I totally get that you want to look at the PlayStation 5.

Speaker B

So anyway, long, long story short, I would definitely get at least the PlayStation 5 disc if you can find it because I know you have disc games and I know you have probably Blu ray movies that you have been collecting like I have.

Speaker B

That would be the best deal for the money.

Speaker B

And like I said, $650 here in America is probably what, 5.99 there in the UK in in pounds.

Speaker B

So there you go.

Speaker B

Appreciate the question, Uncle Scum Death.

Speaker B

Hope you're doing well, brother.

Speaker B

Okay, here is our second question, our second voicemail.

Speaker C

Hello, Scum Death here, I'm just listening to the radio and funnily enough this, they've got a guest on called Destiny and some obviously female.

Speaker C

Like I thought if she had a sister, would she be called Destiny 2?

Speaker C

So my question for the show is, is that a good joke or not?

Speaker C

Oh God, I'm sorry, I'm a bit bored though.

Speaker C

Anyway, love you all.

Speaker B

Bye Uncle Scum Death.

Speaker B

You're a hoot man.

Speaker B

You know there's also a, a YouTuber and blogger named Destiny who is not.

Speaker B

Does not talk about Destiny.

Speaker B

He talks about a lot of political stuff out there.

Speaker B

So just Google Destiny, you'll find them.

Speaker B

My son listens to him all the time.

Speaker B

Or at least he used to.

Speaker B

I don't know, I like dad jokes.

Speaker B

Next question.

Speaker C

Hello, Scumdev here.

Speaker C

Question for the show.

Speaker C

Yesterday when I finished work, well, when I got home from work I realized I'd left my phone in the van at work.

Speaker C

So I couldn't retrieve my phone until this afternoon.

Speaker C

So I went 24 hours without my phone.

Speaker C

It was absolutely liberating.

Speaker C

I felt off the grid, you know, I might as well be living in a tent.

Speaker C

So yeah, it was really nice and non stressful and then until I seen everybody and they're like, I've been trying to phone you loads, da da da.

Speaker C

It's like, but tough.

Speaker C

I didn't have my phone.

Speaker C

So my question for you is if you didn't have your phone for 24 hours, would it freak you out?

Speaker C

Would you lose it over it or would you think yes, Bliss.

Speaker C

Anyway, love you, you.

Speaker B

You know, Uncle Scum Death, I am a Gen X like you sir, and I have lived in the analog and digital world.

Speaker B

So I am not hung up on having my phone with me all the time.

Speaker B

Now if I do have it, I have that same draw to look at it and check in on stuff like you would probably if you had your phone but there'll be times I'll be in my office working on something and I'll leave my phone in the other room.

Speaker B

I'll leave it in the kitchen.

Speaker B

And I don't miss it a bit.

Speaker B

I really don't.

Speaker B

I figure whatever is important will be on that phone when I get back to it.

Speaker B

So I'm like you, man.

Speaker B

I did.

Speaker B

I don't panic if I don't have my phone.

Speaker B

I don't know if I've gone 24 hours without a phone, but I've.

Speaker B

I've gone quite a bit of time without a phone.

Speaker B

But I'm never always thinking about, where's my phone?

Speaker B

Where's my phone?

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

Maybe it's just a generational thing, but for me, I'm with you, man.

Speaker B

I don't have to have my phone with me now if I'm out driving and stuff.

Speaker B

It's kind of important to have your phone in case you break down, you need to call someone for help.

Speaker B

But I guess you can always flag someone else down that has a phone, right?

Speaker B

Anyway, thanks for the question.

Speaker B

Appreciate it.

Speaker B

Appreciate all your questions, Uncle Scum Death.
