We Give Our Take on Destiny Being Brought Back #375

We address Bungie's declaration that Destiny is being resurrected through an unvaulting program that will return legacy campaigns, locations, and raids to Destiny 2. We carefully parse the corporate statements and the insider reporting to separate confirmed returns from speculation, and we emphasize that seasonal content and some live-service systems are explicitly excluded. I and my cohost analyze the announcement in light of Marathon’s current state, staffing constraints, and technical work required to remaster older content for the existing engine. We explain the practical implications for players, including what will be free, which activities are likely to return, and where uncertainty remains regarding strikes, Crucible maps, gear systems, and weapon sets. We outline a plausible timeline for phased information and releases and caution that restoration does not equate to a full revival of live-service operations immediately. Finally, we offer our reasoned assessments of possible futures for the Destiny franchise, from incremental reinstatement of vaulted content to more ambitious remaster or integration efforts.

What’s up Guardians, and welcome to the newly branded Guardian Down Roundtable! We’ve spent nearly seven years as the Guardian Down Cast show focusing on Destiny, but now we’re taking a more broad overview of the entire gaming hobby. Every week, my co-host Mr. Kingsleymac and I sit down with two rotating guest hosts to tackle topics of discussion—covering everything from the gaming industry and tech to social media…or whatever our guest co-hosts have on their mind. Our mission is simple: To create a dialogue with topics/news that impact our gaming hobby…all while keeping the focus on our community.

We go live every Thursday at 9 PM Eastern on my ToddtheGatr YouTube and Twitch channels, as well as our Discord Live Stage. Once a month, we invite a new member from our Discord community to pull up a chair and share their own story with us. We are a live video show with an audio version available every Monday morning. We love the live shows but we love interacting with the live chat even more, so jump in, give us your input!

Speaker A

Foreign.

Speaker B

We're a weekly gaming podcast where our mission is simple to bring to light and discuss topics that have an impact on our gaming hobby.

Speaker B

And at the same time highlighting our diverse gamer community.

Speaker B

Also remaining dedicated to our origins, Guardian Down.

Speaker B

Join me, Todd the Gator and my co host, Kingsley Mack, as we invite a rotating list of guest co hosts every week to join us at the Guardian Down Roundtable.

Speaker B

And now let's get to it.

Speaker B

What's up Guardians?

Speaker B

And welcome to episode 375 of the Guardian Down Roundtable.

Speaker B

In our podcast, we talk about topics and news that impact our gaming hobby, all while keeping the focus on our community.

Speaker B

That is always our promise.

Speaker B

We go live every Thursday, 9pm Eastern on my Todd the Gator, YouTube and Twitch channels, as well as our Discord Live stage.

Speaker B

And that Discord again is Discord GG Forward slash Guardian Down Roundtable.

Speaker B

If you want to join the live stage and see our faces and hear our voices live every Thursday, this has been.

Speaker B

This has been a weird week.

Speaker B

That's for sure, man.

Speaker B

I'll talk about it in the catch up segment.

Speaker B

But first, let us say hello to the last regular show visit of my co host, Mr. Kingsley Mack.

Speaker B

How you been tonight, Mike?

Speaker B

You doing all right?

Speaker A

I'm doing good, yeah.

Speaker A

Yeah, yeah, yeah, good, way to put it.

Speaker A

Last regular visit.

Speaker B

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker A

Glad to be here.

Speaker B

Thanks, man.

Speaker A

And then I will be in the Cloud.

Speaker A

That's a joke.

Speaker A

So it's so funny.

Speaker A

Not, not so much this situation, but like there was another thing in a professional group I'm in for some Apple stuff and the team was like changing leadership and they weren't going to do things for something.

Speaker A

And this is like the third group that I'm in and I'm like, okay, I guess they all went to the Cloud, so, you know.

Speaker B

Yeah, like everything just a little joke.

Speaker A

But yeah, I mean, happy to be here and then I'm happy to be playing video games in the future.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker B

Absolutely, man.

Speaker B

Good deal.

Speaker B

Well, you probably all know what this episode will be covering, right?

Speaker B

First we're going to break down the announcement from Bungie concerning Destiny 2 and Marathon and of course break down what a.

Speaker B

What will actually what we're actually getting, you know, break down the corpo speak and break it down into what we're actually getting in Destiny since it is continuing on.

Speaker B

Next, Mike and I will give our opinions on the announcement, what it actually means today, and just give our opinions on it.

Speaker B

And then finally we'll each have our take on what we actually think the future of The Destiny game will be.

Speaker B

And I'm really curious what Mike has to think about that because we have not discussed this privately.

Speaker B

So this will be the first time I hear his.

Speaker B

Well, about this announcement anyway, after which point we will shift into our catch up segment with everyone.

Speaker B

Share any highlights of our week.

Speaker B

I do have a movie review to share tonight.

Speaker B

I saw a movie this week, a little bit of an odd movie, but I'll share it later.

Speaker B

And at the end of the show, if time allows, we'll answer questions and feedback from our community.

Speaker B

So if you do have a question for us, make sure you enter it in our podcast Questions channel in our Discord community.

Speaker B

And by the time we get to questions tonight, we might read it aloud on the show.

Speaker B

Oh, and we do have one more Uncle Scum Death voicemail tonight to play.

Speaker B

So if everyone's ready, let's roll.

Speaker A

Hi, this is fluffy fingers, MD, from potato thumbs Podcast, the podcast that you never knew existed.

Speaker A

I am here to tell you that you are listening to Guardian down the squarest coffee table around.

Speaker B

I mean, I think it's safe to say that we've all seen the five minute video from Bungie, right.

Speaker B

With the new.

Speaker B

We have some new studio heads.

Speaker B

We have Poria Torkin, who is the studio head of Bungie, and Josh Dean, which I've seen him before.

Speaker B

He is now the head of product and the GM of Marathon.

Speaker B

And of course I think we've all seen the video a million times, but we've had some more information.

Speaker A

The GM of Destiny we still don't.

Speaker B

Have, I don't know, I guess he's the studio head of Bungie.

Speaker B

Yeah, there's nothing for Destiny.

Speaker B

You're exactly right.

Speaker B

There is no title for Destiny, is there?

Speaker B

That's a good point.

Speaker B

I just now realize that.

Speaker B

But our friend Mr. Mr. Forbes himself has released a list of stuff from his inside information of what is actually coming back according to that video from Bungie this week.

Speaker B

And I think you said you had a list, Kingsley.

Speaker B

So let's just right off from the top man, let's just mention what exactly was promised or what we think is promised in that video that we saw this week.

Speaker A

Yes.

Speaker A

Yeah, because this is really good information.

Speaker A

Because of course this always happens.

Speaker A

People start speculating and hoping for more or less or reading between the lines and we don't know all the details yet.

Speaker A

But he was able to confirm some things, 100% confirmed.

Speaker A

He was able to speculate on some other things.

Speaker A

And you know, when we have information like this, it's true of course, they told us the basics, that the Unvault, the vaulted content is coming back.

Speaker A

Now, in case people don't understand what that means on a very, very, very high level, that means the campaigns, the locations and the raids that were from year one and two of destiny.

Speaker A

Now we're what, year nine ish now of destiny two.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

I think it's 11 years total is the franchise.

Speaker A

So when you think about it, it's really only about 20% that we're missing.

Speaker A

But still, this is stuff that people wanted and stuff that we should have had in the game.

Speaker A

Yeah, right.

Speaker A

Okay, so let's go through the list.

Speaker A

I mean, I.

Speaker A

That's just the high level, but there's still going to be a lot of questions that people have.

Speaker A

Let's start with in case it wasn't obvious, this was obvious to me, but all of this will be free content for everyone.

Speaker A

Okay.

Speaker A

Obviously if he already bought it, we wouldn't have been charged twice.

Speaker A

But they did let him know that even if you hadn't bought this, it's going to come free.

Speaker A

So even if you are a Destiny 2 player that started later on, you never bought it, you started like in year three or year four or whatever, it's just going to show up free when it's ready.

Speaker A

You don't have to buy anything.

Speaker A

I think that's pretty important to start off with.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

All right.

Speaker A

Now, another big question that people had is, will it contain the seasons?

Speaker A

No.

Speaker A

100% It will not contain the seasons.

Speaker A

Sorry, people, There's a lot of speculation there.

Speaker B

Yeah, that's a lot of content, man.

Speaker A

To me, this seems obvious, right?

Speaker A

I mean, first of all, yeah, seasons were never technically considered vaulted anyways.

Speaker A

They were always announced as supposed to be a one and done.

Speaker A

And this is how other games do it too.

Speaker A

Division Diablo, it just doesn't make sense.

Speaker A

If you were to have like all the seasons always available in the game, they would start conflicting with each other.

Speaker A

Unless you opened a different instance where like you're in a different world instance, but like some of the public events are in the same spot as other seasons public events.

Speaker A

And all these things can get very complicated.

Speaker A

There are 25 plus seasons that Destiny's had, he says.

Speaker A

And so not only like technically speaking, logistically it'd be pretty much impossible.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

He admits this could create some gaps in the story, but there's just no way that's feasible.

Speaker A

And they said, no, that's not going to happen.

Speaker B

Yeah, I never, I never, I never counted on seasonal because seasonal content is what keeps the FOMO alive?

Speaker B

You had to be there to get that gear, that special ornament.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker A

Well, wait, well, let's not talk about gear because gear has come back.

Speaker A

But we're talking about the activities and the story.

Speaker B

Yeah, selective gear.

Speaker A

Gear is a different.

Speaker A

Gear is a different situation.

Speaker A

It may or we may or may not have gear for the ending of time of, you know, coming back.

Speaker A

And that's always happened.

Speaker A

But when we say seasons, I mean like the activities and the story.

Speaker B

Yep, gotcha.

Speaker A

All right.

Speaker A

Also, no, we're not going to be getting any more holiday events like the Dawning Festival of the Lost, et cetera, et cetera.

Speaker A

That was already stopped with Destiny.

Speaker A

Destiny is still not a life service game.

Speaker A

We're not getting activities or events like that.

Speaker A

And with them bringing this stuff back, it also doesn't make sense just because they're bringing vaulted content back that we're somehow magically going to have Dawning and Festival of the Lost and things like that again too.

Speaker B

Yep.

Speaker A

Will we get more regular patches?

Speaker A

Well, at least until the unvaulting.

Speaker A

This is actually not supposed to be happening.

Speaker A

Like they already said, the game is in a stable.

Speaker A

Well, I'm sure there's bugs.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

But they don't have any time or ability to be doing patches and stuff right now.

Speaker A

They are first just starting starting work and they're.

Speaker A

And we'll talk more about this later, but they probably need to hire some more people.

Speaker A

This is a whole interesting thing I'm going to get into.

Speaker A

But no, I mean now when the content comes out, the vaulted content, obviously they'll probably throw in some patches here and there just to kind of, if they have time to like make sure it all works together with the current stuff.

Speaker A

And if we're lucky, we could get some fixes of things that are currently broken.

Speaker A

But until they announce that they're doing more of a regular scheduled thing, which can always happen down the road, but until they announce that we're not getting more regular patches.

Speaker B

Yep.

Speaker A

And last.

Speaker A

And, and, and sorry, this all sounds like the nose at first, but these were questions that people were asking that he got confirmation on last.

Speaker A

No, we're not getting Shattered Cycle.

Speaker A

I know a lot of people were hoping, oh, they've done like half of the development.

Speaker A

Everything.

Speaker A

Well, first of all, people remember a lot of those updates were actually moved forward like the Sparrow.

Speaker A

Racism was part of suspect shattered Cycle.

Speaker A

Other things were part of shattered Cycle that they added in.

Speaker A

Now, I know we didn't get a new story or anything like that.

Speaker A

But he said that we will not be.

Speaker A

He's.

Speaker A

They've been confirmed that they.

Speaker A

They had to change the story a little bit where they basically told us that the nine chilled out.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

I know it was abrupt.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

But it's kind of in a paused state right now.

Speaker A

So it doesn't even make sense to add Shattered Cycle in right now until they can do some big revamp with the story.

Speaker B

Yeah, I mean, I think a lot of the stuff you see at the podiums from the, the, you know, the big event, the last big event that they.

Speaker B

I think a lot of that was probably rewards and content from that next Shattered Cycle game.

Speaker B

So it makes perfect sense.

Speaker A

All right, now we'll move on to the things we're not a hundred percent sure on, but we have some indications one way or the other.

Speaker A

And then I'm curious your opinion too, and I have opinions also.

Speaker A

Now, he does not know if every Strike and Crucible map and the One Gambit map are being unvaulted.

Speaker A

Now, it stands to reason if a strike is part of the story campaign, it would have to be.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

I also think something like escalation Protocol would come back.

Speaker A

That's not a seasonal event.

Speaker A

That is an actual location event on the planet and part of the campaign.

Speaker A

So I think Escalation protocol would come back.

Speaker A

I think of the strikes.

Speaker A

I think the strikes have a 75% chance of coming back.

Speaker A

But it would be really interesting on the Crucible maps and the One Gambit map.

Speaker A

There's no indication either way, and he hasn't gotten confirmation on that.

Speaker A

What do you think on Strikes and a Crucible and Gambit?

Speaker B

I can tell you what I hope.

Speaker B

I hope all the Crucible maps come back because I love playing all those Crucible maps.

Speaker B

Crucible got boring because they stripped it down and took out all the good maps.

Speaker B

They took out so much, so many of the maps that I love playing.

Speaker A

Those people didn't like that they took out.

Speaker B

I like.

Speaker B

I like the last one that they did.

Speaker B

I remember playing trials on what was the One Callus's Bane or something.

Speaker B

It was the.

Speaker B

The indoor outdoor map, the palace one.

Speaker B

I really like that map.

Speaker B

That was fun to play.

Speaker A

Fair.

Speaker B

Fair.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

I mean, there are some maps I. I really enjoyed, and every one of those maps had its challenges.

Speaker B

And just because some people didn't like them, you know, it's still part of the Crucible.

Speaker B

And honestly, I would play more Gambit if we didn't just have two maps.

Speaker B

Seriously.

Speaker A

Well, there's only one map that would Come back if at all.

Speaker A

So one more map would get you to.

Speaker B

They used to have like.

Speaker B

No, they used to have like five or six Gambit maps, didn't they, guys?

Speaker B

Tell me if I'm wrong.

Speaker B

I could have sworn there were like five or six Gambit maps.

Speaker A

It's just the Kells grave.

Speaker A

It's just.

Speaker A

That's the one.

Speaker B

Could have sworn a bit more.

Speaker B

Maybe I'm, maybe I dreamed it.

Speaker B

I'm wrong.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker A

We still have like three or four maps.

Speaker B

Okay, so maybe I'm wrong.

Speaker A

It's just a Kills grave that we're missing.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

The one where you fall in the lava.

Speaker B

I think it is.

Speaker B

You could fall.

Speaker B

I mean, I killed myself so many times playing in a cruise playing Gambit on that map, but I could have sworn there were more maps.

Speaker B

Now, what about the.

Speaker B

Well, I guess the Gambit prime was part of the seasonal content, wasn't it?

Speaker B

Shoot.

Speaker A

Yeah, that was seasonal content.

Speaker B

I'd love to see Gambit prime come back.

Speaker B

I'd actually play Gambit some more because I love, love that.

Speaker B

I love the fact everyone had roles.

Speaker B

But no, I guess I, I think they, they need to bring the Crucible maps back.

Speaker B

But they, you know, if they're focused on mainly the PVE community, then they might have to just sacrifice some, you know, because they have.

Speaker B

I'll talk about it later.

Speaker B

But I, I, I don't.

Speaker B

That's a lot of, that's a lot of content, man.

Speaker B

It's a lot of content.

Speaker A

Yeah, it's still a lot of stuff because.

Speaker A

Yeah, so let's not get in here,.

Speaker B

But sorry to answer your questions about strikes.

Speaker B

Yes, bring all the strikes back because I enjoyed playing the strikes.

Speaker A

Well, yeah, and of course we want it, but do you think they will?

Speaker A

How?

Speaker A

Like, I give it about a 75% chance the, the strikes will come back because I think if they weren't in this campaign, I could see them being like, oh, that was a seasonal thing too, and maybe they're not coming back.

Speaker A

But they're for the most part in.

Speaker B

The campaign because technically those, those, those strikes were permanent content.

Speaker A

Just like the crisp it's been the more recent years where we haven't gotten strikes.

Speaker A

Remember, it used to always be.

Speaker A

And that was one of my favorite things that when would come out, I was the weirdo that would always do this.

Speaker A

New strikes first.

Speaker A

Before I launched the campaign, some people would do Crucible first.

Speaker A

And you know, a lot of people thought that was weird, but I would be doing the strikes first if it let me.

Speaker A

Sometimes the Strikes were actually a step in the campaign that was more so Destiny 1, but I think they actually did that a little bit in Destiny 2 also, where it actually was a step of the campaign was to do the strike.

Speaker A

So unless they're, like, changing the campaign, we kind of have to have the strikes, right?

Speaker B

I think the strikes are pretty integral to the game.

Speaker A

You're.

Speaker B

You're kind of.

Speaker B

You're kind of stripping out a good portion of the PvE game when you take out the strikes.

Speaker B

I think they need to bring it back.

Speaker B

Crucible.

Speaker B

I'm.

Speaker B

I'm with you on that.

Speaker B

I think I'm about 65% certainty that they'll bring the Crucible maps back, and even less on the Gambit map.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

And then another thing that everyone's assuming, and I don't know why, but with the raids coming back, everyone's assuming it's going to be tiered gear and things like new origin traits and set bonuses.

Speaker A

I don't know if that's going to be true.

Speaker A

He says, keep in mind that resources are really limited right now for all of this.

Speaker A

I'm sure Bungie will address it.

Speaker A

I mean, let's put it this way.

Speaker A

With Pantheon, we didn't get the full set of tiered gear with every single weapon.

Speaker A

So, I mean, I think they'll bring.

Speaker B

I think they'll bring this.

Speaker B

I think they'll bring the tier system back.

Speaker B

I just don't think you're going to get all these new.

Speaker B

New armor perks.

Speaker B

I don't think they have time to do that.

Speaker B

That might have been something they were going to be doing with Shattered Cycle that you, like you said, got brought forward into the, you know, with everything having these roles, every piece of armor have any special roles.

Speaker B

But no, I don't think they'll do that.

Speaker B

In retrospect, I think maybe they'll bring the gun system back with the, you know, with the five, you know, tier five weapons.

Speaker A

I even think they won't bring all the weapons back, kind of like how they did with Pantheon.

Speaker A

I think they'll bring some or.

Speaker A

Or a lot, but not all of them, because that's okay.

Speaker A

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Raids with several weapons.

Speaker A

That would be a lot of work, but we'll see.

Speaker B

I just want my inaugural address back, man.

Speaker B

I still got my old one.

Speaker A

It's just something else.

Speaker B

I still got my old one.

Speaker B

It's still my vault.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

All right, so that is the details on that.

Speaker A

So, again, High Level, we have the locations, those planets we can go through the list too, but it's kind of the obvious things like Mercury, IO, you know, the Titan, the campaigns which was year zero through two, which is basically Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, the Warmind.

Speaker B

And Forsaken.

Speaker A

And then Forsaken, of course.

Speaker B

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker A

And then the raids that go with it.

Speaker B

Right, yeah, just.

Speaker B

Yeah, yeah, you're just stripping out all of the seasonal content, which I think is a smart move because it's.

Speaker B

That was for that season.

Speaker B

It's gone now.

Speaker B

Maybe have a pool of seasonal weapons that you can earn back as maybe a little bonus for replaying the missions, but I don't know.

Speaker A

Yeah, you're not even stripping it out per se because that it already was a system back then where it was already stripped out as it went along, even like more recently.

Speaker B

So, yeah, that was the seasonal system.

Speaker A

Yep.

Speaker A

And then the question is, how long will all of this take?

Speaker A

Well, hard to know.

Speaker A

Most people are speculating sometime next year.

Speaker A

I mean, obviously we only have a few months left of this year, but G put words like we will have more information on this point, not on any other point in the months to come.

Speaker A

So the word, the fact that they use the word months to come, I'm guessing we'll have maybe some semi announcements like if we're lucky, by end of this year, early next year and then we might start getting some releases early to mid next year.

Speaker B

I'll.

Speaker B

I'll give you my opinion on the wrap up part where we talk about our future takes of what's going to really happen.

Speaker B

I'll include that in my summation on that.

Speaker B

So yeah, I just want to, I just wanted to make sure we knew what was actually coming back.

Speaker B

So we have all the information in front of us.

Speaker A

They did say in the article, that's why, you know, they did say in the article.

Speaker A

We will be working on this and we'll give you more information in the months to come.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

Okay, fair enough.

Speaker A

Okay, so that's all the official stuff as far as I know that we know.

Speaker A

Let us know in the chat if I missed anything.

Speaker A

Of course we're going to have more speculation and niche opinions and things like that, but this is what we know so far.

Speaker B

Thank you.

Speaker B

Thank you for putting that list in there because I did not have that list.

Speaker B

I, I saw his video, I listened to what he had to say.

Speaker B

Thank you for writing it down, writing it all down on a list because that'll help people that are listening to the podcast and watching the podcast know what to expect or at least pretty much know from a good source.

Speaker B

I'm curious what you thought of the video, man.

Speaker B

I want your opinion on what do you thought about this five minute video they put out, which is just out of the blue by the way, just appeared video.

Speaker A

The video I didn't care about.

Speaker A

I got more information in the blog post that they wrote to actually, honestly.

Speaker B

But no, how did you.

Speaker B

What.

Speaker B

How did it make you feel?

Speaker B

What did you.

Speaker B

What did you think the purpose of the video was for?

Speaker B

That's what I guess what I'm trying.

Speaker A

To ask people like you.

Speaker A

No, I'm just kidding.

Speaker B

I'm not dramatic, man.

Speaker A

No, no, no.

Speaker A

I'm not saying the video was bad.

Speaker A

I just said it was fine.

Speaker A

Of course it was nice to see Poria Torkin and the new leadership.

Speaker A

And honestly, it's just.

Speaker A

It was very scripted.

Speaker A

It was very corporate speak.

Speaker A

Just because they're saying things doesn't mean it won't or will happen or things like this, you know, it was good that they did the video, but like I'm.

Speaker A

I was starting to watch it.

Speaker A

I did watch the whole video.

Speaker A

I'm like, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.

Speaker A

Enough already.

Speaker A

And then, and then I started reading the actual blog article that they wrote.

Speaker A

But yeah, tell me what.

Speaker A

You must have opinions.

Speaker A

Tell me what you think.

Speaker B

Oh, I broke it down.

Speaker B

I did the astocross breakdown on the video, that's for sure.

Speaker B

I noticed they talked about how they chased a vision, but without focusing on what we liked, what we loved.

Speaker B

Basically our bad, you know?

Speaker B

You know, they heard our feedback and they understand the anger.

Speaker B

They.

Speaker B

They will earn back our trust by exceeding our expectations.

Speaker B

That's not corpo speak, right?

Speaker B

Not done with Destiny.

Speaker B

Have more stories to tell, but we need to do it right.

Speaker B

So they need to give the devs time to do it justice.

Speaker B

The word I kept hearing though was restoration.

Speaker B

Restoring what was rightfully ours.

Speaker B

That sunset content, that was the main thing that I got.

Speaker B

But the fact that they also swung over and said Marathon is also an important piece of this puzzle and it wasn't intended to replace Destiny perked my ears up a little bit.

Speaker B

That Marathon needs to evolve expanded the deeper survival experience from what they said.

Speaker B

And then of course, they said there was going to be a proposed roadmap for Marathon, but not Destiny.

Speaker B

Didn't hear anything about Destiny.

Speaker B

And this is something they quoted in the video said.

Speaker B

Stability does not mean shrinking our ambition, making the games that match our vision.

Speaker B

What about the player's vision?

Speaker B

What about the player's vision of what they want the game to be.

Speaker B

And then they said something like this.

Speaker B

They've simplified their priorities, reduce competing initiatives, empowered teams closer to development.

Speaker B

Stability comes from focus.

Speaker B

Now, what do you think that meant?

Speaker B

I'm not trying to get too granular here, but I'm just trying to break down.

Speaker A

This mean anything to me?

Speaker A

Because we've had this been said to us before.

Speaker B

I know, I know.

Speaker B

It's why I wanted to reiterate it.

Speaker A

You don't believe them.

Speaker A

I'm just saying it doesn't really mean anything to me.

Speaker A

Yeah, but look, I. I am not saying they are not going to do.

Speaker A

They are not going to get the unvaulted content back to us.

Speaker A

I.

Speaker A

There's no reason.

Speaker A

There's no way.

Speaker A

That's not going to happen.

Speaker A

Guaranteed.

Speaker A

The unvaulted.

Speaker A

The vaulted content is coming back.

Speaker A

Yeah, but as far as, like, we heard you this time.

Speaker A

Well, there's been other videos in the past.

Speaker A

We heard you this time.

Speaker A

Like, is this the really, really, really time?

Speaker A

Because last time it was the really, really time, and the first time it was the really time.

Speaker A

So that's.

Speaker A

That's all I'm saying about the video.

Speaker B

I just can't.

Speaker A

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker A

I'm not trying to sound negative with that.

Speaker A

It's just the video did not impress me because I don't get talked into stuff like that.

Speaker A

It was kind of a salesy, in my opinion, type thing.

Speaker A

I just want the details.

Speaker A

I. I want to know what's actually going to happen.

Speaker A

Not like we have so much hope for the future.

Speaker B

And I was thinking to you, when they said all this fluffery, I was like, oh, Kingsley's dying right now.

Speaker B

He's like, I want facts, buddy.

Speaker B

I don't want to hear this corpo speak.

Speaker B

You know where they did say that destiny is the foundation to Bungee.

Speaker B

So that made me feel good.

Speaker B

It made me feel good.

Speaker B

You know, they wanted a place where we could call it home again.

Speaker B

You know that.

Speaker B

I tell you, the one thing I didn't notice them say except one time in the whole video, they never said Destiny 2.

Speaker B

They said Destiny.

Speaker B

The only time they said Destiny 2.

Speaker B

And I watched it again back today just so I can make sure I had this right, is when they talked about unvaulting the content for Destiny 2.

Speaker B

Other than that, if you go back and listen to the video, they never said Destiny 2 ever again.

Speaker B

Which leads me to kind of what I think is coming.

Speaker B

But I won't get too far ahead of myself.

Speaker B

I got a lot to say here.

Speaker B

I mean, basically to me it was an apology video.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

I think that's what the whole thing was.

Speaker B

It's just a kind of.

Speaker B

I mean, honestly, what I think this video was for, I think, I think them pushing so hard for this marathon game really, really made Marathon the Destiny Killer.

Speaker B

I think in a lot of Destiny players eyes and I think they were what I think the poor.

Speaker B

One of the purposes of this video I think was to take the heat off Marathon.

Speaker B

And honestly, I think they're.

Speaker B

I think they're really hoping that some Destiny players who have been kind of mad at the marathon game now that is, quote, part of the Destiny universe or part of the community.

Speaker B

I think they're hoping that some people will break out their wallets and actually buy the game and play a marathon because I mean, look how hard they're pushing this, the revamping of this game, man.

Speaker A

I see what you're saying.

Speaker A

See, coming from that angle, I agree.

Speaker A

Also, see, I don't agree that Marathon was the Destiny Killer because the people that didn't like marathon still were playing Destiny and, and they still held on and they're even holding on now, even when the game in more of its dead.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

However, yes, I agree that this is like damage control in a way.

Speaker A

It's kind of like it's now.

Speaker A

I don't really know how much this is going to get people, I guess if some new cool marathon things come out.

Speaker A

But it's kind of like, yeah, whatever.

Speaker A

It's like, well, don't be too mad at the marathon.

Speaker A

See, I always compartmentalize and I'm fair.

Speaker A

Anyways, I never considered marathon.

Speaker A

And this isn't.

Speaker A

This isn't getting me more or less likely to consider marathon.

Speaker A

Only if marathon is like a totally different game will I be more interested in playing it.

Speaker A

Not what Bungie's saying in a corporate video.

Speaker A

Well, but some people I guess need that.

Speaker A

That are more touchy feely people, so maybe that's good for them, you know.

Speaker B

So, you know, I will say this though.

Speaker B

I don't want to be totally negative tonight.

Speaker B

It is amazing that this franchise was brought back from the dead.

Speaker B

I don't think I've ever seen a game studio come back after being zeroed out.

Speaker B

So I have to give kudos to the Destiny community here, man.

Speaker B

I think it was the persistence of our Destiny community.

Speaker B

I think I did have a role to play here.

Speaker B

Some people say it doesn't matter.

Speaker B

Doesn't matter.

Speaker B

I think Sony might have said, you know, might have just given the nod appointed Two new leaders of this because you notice there's none of the old leadership is in place.

Speaker B

It's all new faces.

Speaker B

And I think.

Speaker B

But Sony gave him a nod and said, fine, what you were talking to us about, about bringing back the Sunset stuff and we have a question about that.

Speaker B

Later we'll answer.

Speaker B

I don't want to get into it too much here, but I think Sony said, okay, you talked about revamping the game and bringing back the Sunset content and keeping some stories alive for the game.

Speaker B

I think they might have finally given him the nod because let's face it, that video never would have happened without Sonny's consent.

Speaker B

And I also think that if this is going to sound so negative, but I'm trying not to be negative because I love the game.

Speaker B

If Marathon wasn't a blubbering failure right now, if it was a super great success and took off and became the next big live service game just like Sony was hoping, I don't think we would be.

Speaker B

We even get a video like this, I don't think we would ever would have gotten a video saying, you know what, we're coming back.

Speaker B

Destiny's not dead.

Speaker B

We're going to be bringing it back.

Speaker B

I think if, if Marathon was very successful right now and it wasn't floundering so badly with triple digit numbers on Steam, I, I don't, I don't think we'd be talking about this right now.

Speaker B

I really think, I think, I think, I think Sony would have let Destiny just die on the vine and lease for another decade.

Speaker B

Maybe bring it back as like a, you know, like a lot of game studios do.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker A

Yeah, it's interesting.

Speaker A

And also, I'll just say it doesn't have to be considered negative.

Speaker A

You don't worry about that.

Speaker A

It's okay for people to have opinions because I'm going to say something too that I want to push back on.

Speaker A

I don't think this is bringing Destiny back from the dead yet.

Speaker B

I'm going to get to that too.

Speaker A

It's still not a live service.

Speaker A

It's still not getting updates until we actually get more news.

Speaker A

Destiny is not brought back from the dead.

Speaker A

All this is going to do is add in some static stuff we already had and it's still going to be paused in time.

Speaker B

I think we're on the same wavelength here.

Speaker A

When you said this is bringing Destiny back from the dead, so.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker A

And saying it won't, I just.

Speaker A

As of right now, it's.

Speaker A

I don't consider it back from the Dead yet.

Speaker A

And this is the last negative thing that I'll say, too.

Speaker A

Like, I don't understand why everyone's saying, we're so back.

Speaker A

We're so back.

Speaker A

Like, you consider being back the stuff that we should have had in the game already?

Speaker A

I'll say we're back when I hear some future news.

Speaker A

That's when I'll say back, I knew exactly that.

Speaker B

I knew you were going to say that, too.

Speaker B

I just had a feeling.

Speaker B

Now Basswindu says, personally, I have no interest in playing Marathon.

Speaker B

I watched many live streams of it and decided it's not for me.

Speaker B

Kingsley and I played the open beta and we both discussed it and said, it just doesn't.

Speaker A

Yeah, not for me.

Speaker B

Something is off for me.

Speaker B

I just.

Speaker B

It just.

Speaker B

When I played the beta and I even gave back feedback in the.

Speaker B

In the.

Speaker B

The restricted Discord channels that had just the beta testers talking amongst themselves, and I got pounced on.

Speaker B

People were all in my grill because I was saying, listen, I'm a longtime Destiny player, and the game just doesn't feel right to me.

Speaker B

It just doesn't have that bungee appeal that Destiny brings.

Speaker B

And of course, all the tryhards were just jumping all over me in the Discord, and I was like, well, you know what?

Speaker B

I gave my.

Speaker B

You asked for my feedback.

Speaker B

There it is.

Speaker A

Well, I would have jumped over you, too, on that aspect because it does have the Destiny feel.

Speaker A

As far as gunplay, minimally, you're not supposed to compare it to Destiny.

Speaker A

It's a different game, of course.

Speaker A

Of course there are people on our Discord that like Marathon, by the way.

Speaker A

So it's not like no one likes it.

Speaker B

You saw me, I played 80 hours of it.

Speaker B

I played it like a survival game, solo.

Speaker B

And you watched me play some of it.

Speaker B

It was terrorizing.

Speaker B

It was terrifying.

Speaker B

Playing a solo match versus playing a solo match in like, say, something like Arc Raiders.

Speaker B

It was.

Speaker B

It was.

Speaker B

I was tiptoeing around and trying to camp and not make any noise, and it was so stressful, man.

Speaker B

Every.

Speaker B

I. I tried it.

Speaker B

I really gave it a.

Speaker B

You.

Speaker B

You have to admit, that's one game.

Speaker B

I really gave enough.

Speaker B

I put enough time into it to.

Speaker B

I don't think it was 80 hours.

Speaker B

I think it was more like 30 or 40 hours.

Speaker B

But I gave it.

Speaker B

I gave it a good shot, man.

Speaker B

Cause I really wanted it to do well.

Speaker A

Well, but.

Speaker A

And some people like it.

Speaker A

That's okay.

Speaker A

Not everyone has to.

Speaker B

And it's fine.

Speaker B

It's.

Speaker B

It's a different kind of Game.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

But here's the thing and.

Speaker B

Go ahead.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

And then I have one last thing too on the, on this initial topic.

Speaker B

Yep.

Speaker A

Oh, well, I was going to say, because, you know, I was on vacation for a while and I missed a couple episodes, I never got to give my prediction on what this three week thing was going to be.

Speaker A

And I'm not just saying this after the fact.

Speaker A

My two predictions were going to be either one.

Speaker A

My prediction was it was going to be something like, oh, Destiny.

Speaker A

This was the first one I was going to go with.

Speaker A

Destiny Rising is going to be a full PC release, so we have something to hold onto.

Speaker A

My second prediction was going to be, oh, they're just going to do something with the Project Sunset.

Speaker A

Like the stuff that's vaulted.

Speaker A

Well, that's what they're doing.

Speaker A

Not they're, they're not working with the team, but they're, they're bringing the Sunset stuff back.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker B

Yeah, and we had a question about that later in the show.

Speaker B

We'll answer, but we'll get, we'll deep, we'll dive.

Speaker A

But I should have said my prediction a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker A

It was kind of true.

Speaker B

And yeah, yeah, you're exactly right.

Speaker B

And here's, here's not, not to jump on, not to pile on here, but if you go back to the early when they were having secret play test and the open alpha, which I was in, and the beta, which we were both in, I remember who was the head of.

Speaker B

Who was the head.

Speaker B

They're no longer there now.

Speaker B

But who's the head of Bungie, the lead?

Speaker B

He was.

Speaker B

I can't remember his name, but he was.

Speaker B

Who.

Speaker A

Yeah, Parson was the head of Bungie.

Speaker B

No, not a Bungie, but I'm sorry, Marathon, the head developer.

Speaker A

Marathon.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

I forget his name.

Speaker B

Anyway, he made, he, he made an announcement because there were.

Speaker B

People were like, you know, saying it wasn't this, it wasn't that.

Speaker B

And I think the one thing that they said when it launched was that merit.

Speaker B

They mentioned that Marathon was not made for the Destiny player and that it was targeted towards the extraction game community.

Speaker B

They basically were shunning the Destiny community, which at the time we were hungry for something new to come out.

Speaker B

We were starving for content and they didn't want to hear about more Destiny, but instead they kept pushing their Marathon game.

Speaker B

And even though the feedback from the alpha and the betas, like I mentioned, clearly stated that the game lacked that bungee appeal, I feel that, like I said, if Marathon was a wild success right now, I really don't think we'd be talking about, you know, them bringing back pieces of the Original Destiny.

Speaker B

Destiny 2.

Speaker B

I should say so.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

I, I, I, I, I do think.

Speaker A

You, you, you don't, they weren't shunning the community.

Speaker A

You don't have to have a game studio make all their games similar.

Speaker A

For example, Blizzard.

Speaker A

People that like World of Warcraft often don't like Diablo.

Speaker A

People like Diablo often don't like World of Warcraft.

Speaker A

It's okay to have games that are totally different.

Speaker B

Yeah, but, but are you telling me, you, you're telling me honestly that Bungie didn't think that Bungie players of their games were going to come and play their new Bungie game?

Speaker B

I, oh, it could.

Speaker A

Two things can be true.

Speaker A

I bet they were hoping, but they still wanted to make a different game.

Speaker A

Just like World of Warcraft is totally different than Diablo.

Speaker B

Yeah, like I said, I got lots of opinions in here.

Speaker B

I'm trying to, I'm very scatterbrained right now.

Speaker B

I think,.

Speaker A

I think it's like being a little presumptuous to say like Marathon had to be just like Destiny, you.

Speaker B

Know, I understand that, but it's a bungee game that, you know, I, I, I think now, I think part of that video, like you said, I think was damage control.

Speaker B

I think they're hoping, yeah, that they're, I think they realize that nobody in the extraction community out there wants to play this game.

Speaker B

And I think they're, they're trying to do a little damage control.

Speaker B

I think they're trying to see if they can persuade some Destiny players now that Destiny's not dead.

Speaker B

And Marathon didn't kill it, by the way.

Speaker B

Marathon didn't replace it even though it was end of, end of service.

Speaker A

Told you guys.

Speaker B

But I'm telling you, I think this is a ploy.

Speaker B

I don't think they have any other option right now other than to try to recruit more Destiny players to play Marathon.

Speaker B

I don't think they have any other choice because everyone else has quit playing the game.

Speaker B

I mean, when you have 938 people playing the game at one time on Steam and apparently most of the players are on PC from what the stats I've heard.

Speaker B

So that means that's, you know, probably a little bit more obviously for, for, for play PlayStation and Xbox, but I really, really think they're just trying to, they're trying to pull out all the stops to save this Marathon game.

Speaker B

And here's the thing, Kingsley, I don't think that Sony is going to put hundreds of millions of dollars into a Destiny 3.

Speaker B

I just don't think it's going to happen, man.

Speaker B

They have a small group of devs.

Speaker B

They're going to give more attention to unvaulting the old content from Destiny 2 and setting a good foundation for possible new games.

Speaker B

I really think that's, that's kind of what it is here.

Speaker A

But you're almost making it sound like if.

Speaker A

And I think I agree with you.

Speaker A

But since we both agree it's damage control.

Speaker A

So are you saying potentially if this doesn't do damage control and the changes in Marathon don't get more people to play it, then maybe we won't get anything new for Destiny?

Speaker B

I'm not saying that.

Speaker B

No, I'm not saying that.

Speaker B

I think, I think what they're doing.

Speaker B

If, if you, I don't know if many of you saw the information they released just today on all the new stuff coming to Marathon.

Speaker B

How in.

Speaker B

Let's see.

Speaker B

And they have the new symbiosis coming.

Speaker B

It's a permanent PvE mode.

Speaker B

In December they talked about in October they're redoing, they're resetting progression and they're going to be redoing the.

Speaker B

It's like a refresh.

Speaker B

They're not going to fully re.

Speaker B

It's.

Speaker B

It's a progression reset.

Speaker B

It's a free non expiring rewards pass and a quality of life adjustments that they're doing.

Speaker B

And then in March they have the big anticipated relaunch of the game where.

Speaker A

It's going to evolve even more PvE and all the systems will work together.

Speaker B

Yeah, you're going to have three different ways you can play.

Speaker A

It'll almost sound like Destiny.

Speaker A

You know like in Destiny where you have PvE and PvE and you can have the same weapons and things work together.

Speaker A

It almost sounds like, yeah, they're going to have that for the March update.

Speaker B

Yeah, I honestly think that I, Man, I don't know.

Speaker B

I don't like being so, so pessimistic, but I'm just, I've been playing this game for a long time, man, and I can kind of see between the lines sometimes.

Speaker B

I think, I think this is the, this is Marathon's last push.

Speaker B

I think this is their last push.

Speaker B

If this revamp in, what was it, spring or March, 2027.

Speaker B

March.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

I, I predicted the game would only last until March.

Speaker B

So apparently they're at least going to give it one more shot.

Speaker B

They're going to try to, you know, bring you know, stir up some excitement about the game in October and December.

Speaker B

The problem is, is so is Arc Raiders and so is GTA 6.

Speaker B

Good luck.

Speaker B

Good.

Speaker B

Look, there're gonna be a lot of people playing GTA 6, man.

Speaker B

They ain't gonna care about Marathon.

Speaker B

I'm sorry they're not.

Speaker B

But to be fair, yes.

Speaker B

Scarlet Maddie said the lore for Marathon was very pulling to those Lore nerds.

Speaker B

At first half of my experience was that I know I'm a niche fan.

Speaker B

No, believe me, you can ask Kingsley.

Speaker B

As he was watching me play it, I was trying to get the objectives done because I wanted to unlock more cutscenes and more lore.

Speaker B

Because the cool thing about Marathon is the syndicates, all these different warlords that you're doing battle for and you're going into and trying to scrap and get materials for them and stuff and complete these objectives, like flipping the switch over here and, you know, realign this and stuff.

Speaker B

I.

Speaker B

That part.

Speaker B

Scarlet Maddie.

Speaker B

I love that part.

Speaker B

I was like, man, wouldn't it be great if I could just run all of these missions without having to worry about someone ratting me out or killing me before I can complete the mission?

Speaker B

I said, man, that.

Speaker B

I really thought that's what they were going to do.

Speaker B

And maybe this PvE mode, it sounds like it's only in one map.

Speaker B

This PvP PvE only mode is only going to be in the first map.

Speaker B

So I don't know if that can be possible.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

But I'm telling you, if.

Speaker B

If I could do those progression missions, the seasonal missions that they had, that they were resetting, which is just a waste of time, I would.

Speaker B

I would have.

Speaker B

I would have dove right in and jumped right in and played that stuff.

Speaker B

But the problem is I have to watch my back.

Speaker B

And it.

Speaker B

There's no friendly, friendly in Marathon.

Speaker A

10Th time we heard this story, you get shot.

Speaker B

You get shot, and guess what?

Speaker B

The objective's not done because you didn't extract.

Speaker B

So guess what?

Speaker B

You got to come and try to do it again.

Speaker B

And after five times of trying to do one damn mission in the game and getting shot every time, so I couldn't even extract safely to complete it, you finally just throw your hands up and go, you know what?

Speaker B

It's fun, but sorry.

Speaker A

Well, you do not everyone.

Speaker B

That's just too.

Speaker B

That's just too exasperating, man.

Speaker B

It really is.

Speaker B

So I agree with you, Scarlet Matt.

Speaker A

No, it's fair, though.

Speaker A

It's totally okay to have different opinions on it.

Speaker B

And then they kept Allison lures remember?

Speaker B

So she might be creating some lore, some more lore for the Marathon game, which may be enough of a hook for people.

Speaker B

But I really think the reason.

Speaker B

Well, maybe the benefit of having Allison Lures being one of the very few Destiny employees that didn't get laid off is the fact that she can turn the Destiny game around, which is really what I'm hoping, because they were very smart to keep her.

Speaker B

Very smart.

Speaker B

So, yeah, I think, honestly, I think they need to quit wasting time and manpower.

Speaker B

The 380 employees or whatever they have feverishly working on all these updates for Marathon.

Speaker B

I think that time should be spent more for doing the unvaulting.

Speaker A

Who's.

Speaker B

That's the question I have, Kingsley.

Speaker B

If they're going to be unvaulting comment content, when are they going to have time to do that?

Speaker B

When they're working all the way through March feverishly to get everything done for Marathon?

Speaker A

Well, here's the thing that I think on that is there.

Speaker A

See this?

Speaker A

I think this leads first to a bigger question of how did this get approved?

Speaker A

Did Sony allow it or did somehow.

Speaker A

Did somehow Bungie made it work?

Speaker A

And they're just pushing forward and they're like.

Speaker A

Because there is a possible world where they don't have to hire more people.

Speaker B

Yes.

Speaker A

It just will take longer.

Speaker A

It'll just take longer, right?

Speaker A

Yes.

Speaker B

Yes.

Speaker A

Now.

Speaker A

So this is the really interesting thing to me, because I don't know if Sony approved this and they might hire more.

Speaker A

There was rumors at first, and until we see more, like, I think they were just.

Speaker A

They were fake rumors.

Speaker A

Someone was saying, oh, there's a LinkedIn posting where there's hiring someone for Destiny 3 development.

Speaker A

Come on, man.

Speaker A

And of course that one was fake, you know, and again, that might happen way down the road.

Speaker A

Who knows, right?

Speaker A

But like, but I looked on Bungie's website and there's only like a couple positions for hire right now.

Speaker A

And it's nothing crazy.

Speaker A

It's just kind of like filling in some backfill stuff.

Speaker A

So here's one possibility is maybe Sony approved it and they'll start slowly hiring some people.

Speaker A

But honestly, it's not as hard bringing this stuff back as creating new content.

Speaker A

So what they could do is just bring over like five or ten people from the Marathon side and say, hey, it'll be ready in six months.

Speaker A

Right?

Speaker A

Like, it's possible.

Speaker A

Hello, Guardians, this is Notorious One, and you're listening to Guardian Down Round Tape.

Speaker B

All right, moment of truth, Kingsley.

Speaker B

What's gonna happen?

Speaker B

What's your take, man?

Speaker B

I Want to hear your, your.

Speaker A

What's gonna happen after this?

Speaker A

You got.

Speaker B

No, no, you got the.

Speaker B

You got your.

Speaker B

You got your crystal ball out right now.

Speaker B

You're sitting there rubbing it.

Speaker B

I mean, theoretically, what, What.

Speaker B

What do you see evolving from this announcement and the future of the Destiny game?

Speaker B

What is your full take?

Speaker B

I really want to know.

Speaker A

Well, that's why I was asking, like, what do we think if.

Speaker A

If.

Speaker A

If Sony is heading this up or if it's Bungie heading this up?

Speaker A

Because I think that'll kind of.

Speaker A

I. I don't really have a much of a prediction because it's too unknown to know now.

Speaker A

Of course, a lot of people are like, this means everything's back and we're getting Destiny 3 to.

Speaker A

Well, some people are even speculating that.

Speaker A

I don't know why they're speculating this, but some people are even speculating that.

Speaker A

Oh, I don't know if we can trust that the vaulted content will come back.

Speaker A

Well, like I already said, I'm a realist.

Speaker A

I'm not a pessimist or an optimist.

Speaker A

I'm a realist.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

They're going to bring the vaulted content back.

Speaker A

There's no way they would have said that.

Speaker B

I agree.

Speaker A

And it doesn't come back.

Speaker A

But as far as stuff afterwards, it's really too hard to know.

Speaker A

I think, like, I think maybe, probably the most likely thing that would happen.

Speaker A

Of course I want a Destiny 3.

Speaker A

I'm kind of mad again that even it's like, again, if they could have started, and I know money was the issue, but like, maybe like even a year before money started becoming an issue, if they would have started working on Destiny 3, who knows where we might have been.

Speaker A

But.

Speaker A

And I'm kind of mad too, like, well, instead of even having those 10 to 100 developers working on the sunset content, instead put them on something else because I don't personally care about the sunset content as much.

Speaker A

Sorry for the people that are mad that it took away or haven't experienced it.

Speaker A

I'd rather have even new Destiny 2 content.

Speaker A

So that's.

Speaker A

I think what's most realistic is just more not like a Destiny 3, but like down the road, if this goes well and if maybe Marathon's doing a little bit better, we'll hear something mid next year where they're like, oh, we're going to have some new another deal, but it won't be probably live service.

Speaker A

It'll probably be like, we'll have another DLC for Destiny 2.

Speaker A

That's probably most likely what would happen if anything?

Speaker A

Okay, but not, probably not Live service.

Speaker B

HD Tech also said for don't forget, wow, Forever is coming out in November.

Speaker B

So I mean there's a lot of competition for games right now, so.

Speaker A

And oh, we can go down the whole list.

Speaker A

Yeah, there's.

Speaker A

Don't forget Division 2.

Speaker A

That's gonna be huge in the.

Speaker B

They were talking about that today, weren't they talking about the devs talking about that today, the new Division 2.

Speaker A

Lots of people are talking about it.

Speaker A

Yeah, there's, there's.

Speaker A

They have the DLC for the new, they have the trailer for the new dlc.

Speaker A

But not only that, but the crossplay and it's going to be huge once the crossplay opens up.

Speaker B

Talk about it.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker A

Yeah, so.

Speaker A

And I want to hear your prediction too.

Speaker A

But like I, well, if you want to do that first, but there's another point I want to talk about and we can do this after prediction if you want.

Speaker A

But like, okay, do we think this is going to get that many people to come back to Destiny?

Speaker A

So I don't know if you want to talk about that now or later.

Speaker B

Well, I'll tell you what, because I.

Speaker A

Have an opinion too.

Speaker B

I'm going to give you my whole take and you're probably going to grab your pearls before I'm done.

Speaker B

But I'm going to say it anyway here.

Speaker B

And I'm being.

Speaker B

This is the most hopeful, this is the most positive, hopeful thing I wish for Bungie.

Speaker B

Okay, first of all, marathon's dead by summer of 2027.

Speaker B

I don't care what they're doing to make a PvE mode.

Speaker B

Nobody wants to play this game.

Speaker B

I'm sorry, they don't.

Speaker B

And, and I've already heard people say that they bring back a PvE only mode, it's going to ruin the game because all the sweats that want to shoot other, other runners in the maps, they're, they're not gonna be able to do that.

Speaker B

So by the way, they're saying the same thing for Arc Raiders.

Speaker B

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker B

So here's what I, here's what I think's gonna happen.

Speaker B

I'm actually not gonna sway too much from my initial spinfoil of theories I had two episodes ago.

Speaker B

I, I, I tried to think like Sony would in this situation, you know, as a business owner and take out all the emotional connection to the Destiny game.

Speaker B

First you have to think about what they have in personnel in the, in the studio.

Speaker B

Currently it's about what, 380, 300 plus devs probably working like I said furiously on a marathon game that they're wasting their time making.

Speaker B

And you know, they're trying to make it more like a destiny like PvE game, but with that survival twist, I guess.

Speaker B

I don't know if it's going to be a part, you know, enough to.

Speaker B

I don't think it's going to be enough employees to spare to start unvaulting this Destiny 2 content that was Sunset.

Speaker B

I would think that they would be more urgent in making sure that they make that happen.

Speaker B

Okay, so here's what I.

Speaker B

Here's what I think will happen if in fact Destiny is reborn.

Speaker B

Since they need to remaster, and this is their words, they have to restore the Red War campaigns and its raids.

Speaker B

Now would be the time to remaster the entire game into an either a newer Tiger Engine, what Marathon uses maybe right now, or in something even newer like the new Unreal engine.

Speaker B

I know that's very, very hopeful.

Speaker B

They have to build a stable base.

Speaker B

Otherwise, as they've admitted, the current engine just can't handle all of this seven years of Destiny content, guys.

Speaker B

They just can't handle it.

Speaker B

That's why we had to sunset it.

Speaker B

It was just too much.

Speaker B

Just too much that the server was breaking down.

Speaker A

Exactly what they said.

Speaker A

If we need to get into that point again.

Speaker B

All right, I won't get.

Speaker B

I'll stop my melodrama.

Speaker B

Also, I think.

Speaker A

Exactly say that.

Speaker B

I also think because they did not mention Destiny 2 proper in the announcement, other than the unvaulted stuff, it leads me to think that they will also remaster the original game and incorporate it into a larger Destiny Online world.

Speaker B

Something I've been talking about for five years now.

Speaker B

Because before, hear me out, it serves two purposes.

Speaker B

First, it keeps the players engaged in Destiny while they begin making new stories, you know, new content with live service.

Speaker B

The key is player engagement.

Speaker B

And I know you've mentioned that it might not be live service if no one is plugged into the world playing Destiny, then what new.

Speaker B

What use will new content be but kind of an afterthought and that some maybe will come back if they're not already involved in another game world, just like they did in Renegades.

Speaker B

By the way, not everybody came back for Renegades.

Speaker B

And that was freaking frickin Star wars second purpose.

Speaker B

The game has a broken new player experience.

Speaker B

And even if they brought back.

Speaker B

Let's just say they brought back the war.

Speaker B

The opening campaign openings, cutscenes and everything for Red War, I can see new players jumping in this game going, who are all these people, they desperately need to go back to the beginning where they can play and more importantly, access all the Destiny 1 campaigns where everything is slowly introduced.

Speaker B

I don't know why they didn't do this when they made Destiny 2, but you know, when they were trying to make it for the new next gen consoles and stuff, and they were leaving the old stuff behind, maybe it was at the time it was just too much to handle with 1300 employees.

Speaker B

Geez.

Speaker B

I mean, the fact of the matter is now is that Destiny 1.

Speaker B

Sorry, just Destiny.

Speaker B

Sorry.

Speaker B

Fudd is a complete game.

Speaker A

It is called Destiny 1 even by Bungie.

Speaker B

Sorry.

Speaker B

Okay, okay.

Speaker B

Sorry, bud.

Speaker A

You're wrong.

Speaker B

It's a complete game though, is what I'm.

Speaker B

Is what I'm trying to get to.

Speaker B

I think it desperately needs to be incorporated into the new player onboarding system.

Speaker B

If Destiny Universe is going to be successful going forward now, they would need to bring over the new weapons, the new armor ecosystem applied across all the Destiny content.

Speaker B

A lot of it already has been remastered over the years.

Speaker B

I mean, especially the exotics and stuff.

Speaker B

Not all of them, but a lot of them have been brought from Destiny one.

Speaker B

Think.

Speaker B

You know, then I think what Sony has in mind for future stories and content is merely just adding it into the new world, which I think will take some time.

Speaker B

Hence why they need to keep us busy replaying the old content.

Speaker B

Destiny 1 that was remastered.

Speaker B

Realistically, I could see a Destiny Online roadmap announced by spring of 2027 and a new online world open by the fall of 2027.

Speaker B

That gives them about a year to remaster and merge the two games.

Speaker B

Now, as far as new content, I don't see that coming until maybe 2028.

Speaker B

I'm thinking maybe summertime.

Speaker B

If they had the balls, they would probably announce a teaser at the Game Awards this winter or maybe another teaser at Summer Games Fest in summer of 2027 and then have that new content teaser at the Game awards in late 2027.

Speaker B

That's kind of how I see things going forward and that's being very optimistic.

Speaker B

This is kind of.

Speaker B

This is what I was talking about, Kingsley, when that episode you didn't make.

Speaker B

I think you were out of town on vacation, but this is what I was talking to with my son.

Speaker B

I believe this, this theory of the Destiny Online world.

Speaker B

So that is my most optimistic thing, the most optimistic way I can see Destiny being reborn.

Speaker B

I really don't think Sony is going to invest millions and millions, hundreds of millions of dollars into an entirely new game.

Speaker B

I Think.

Speaker B

Only thing I think what they probably maybe agreed to here was to start adding in little bits of content using a small, focused team.

Speaker B

Because when Marathon dies this summer, what are 380 employees going to do?

Speaker B

They're not making anything else and laid off like, well, God forbid.

Speaker B

My biggest fear was they're going to break Bungie's talent up and spread them across all the other studios that they own.

Speaker B

That was always my biggest fear when Sony took over Bungie.

Speaker B

So there it is.

Speaker B

That's what I see.

Speaker B

The future of Bungie going forward.

Speaker B

And only time will be able to tell whether I'm full of shit or whether I actually had an epiphany.

Speaker A

It wouldn't be a very good timeline because all they said that they're doing is bringing the Destiny 2 vaulted stuff.

Speaker A

So if they are secretly planning with your thing to do the Destiny 1 stuff also, we're gonna get the Destiny 2 stuff first.

Speaker A

And then it'll be even more messed up when the Destiny 1 stuff comes and you say they don't have the money to send 600 million on a new game.

Speaker A

Well, if they're doing a new Engine and Destiny 1 and all this stuff, that's too much money that they don't have either.

Speaker A

So it's the only thing I would say against those things.

Speaker B

I understand, because I thought about that too.

Speaker B

I think instead of.

Speaker B

And this is what we talked about with Basewindi last week.

Speaker B

Instead of 4 to 600 million dollars being spent on a brand new game which they have to promote, a remaster or a remake would be maybe 150 to 200 million.

Speaker B

It'd be about half of what they would have to spend on a new game, because let's face it, yes, you're correct, Kingsley.

Speaker B

You're more technically oriented than I am.

Speaker B

They would probably need to redesign a lot of these and reformat it or whatever they have to do, reprogram of these stuff to fit from the Destiny 1 game into the Destiny 2 world.

Speaker B

But they already have the much improved Tiger Engine that they're using right now for Marathon.

Speaker B

And what are you going to do with that?

Speaker A

Engine 2 would have to be redone for that.

Speaker A

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker A

That would be.

Speaker A

That would be probably bigger than making a Destiny 3 game, I would imagine.

Speaker B

Like I said, it was the most optimistic way I could see the game being reborn.

Speaker A

I'm not.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

I'm just saying.

Speaker A

I. I don't know.

Speaker A

I don't know.

Speaker A

I'm not saying it's a bad idea.

Speaker A

I'm Just saying, I don't know.

Speaker A

Hey, you know, who knows?

Speaker A

I don't think that would happen, but that'd be fun, of course.

Speaker B

And I, I, I was listening to Datto today.

Speaker B

Everyone's like, oh, Datto's back.

Speaker B

And he's like, no, dude, I'm, I mean, I may come back and play a Leviathan Raid or something once they bring it back, which is going to be about a year probably.

Speaker B

He said, I'll come and play it.

Speaker B

I'll have some friends come and rejoin me.

Speaker B

It'll be a good time.

Speaker B

But then I'm going to go back to what I've been doing, man.

Speaker B

I am retired from Destiny and I agree, man.

Speaker B

I need new content.

Speaker B

I mean, I know right now that me, you and Sin would be jumping right in and running the, the raid that he wants back in Destiny 2 from Destiny 1.

Speaker B

You know what rate I'm talking about?

Speaker A

Yeah, that's not coming back either because,.

Speaker B

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Speaker B

If you, if you brought, if you merge the two games, and I know there's been probably a lot of feedback out there that they want that raid back, Wrath of the Machine.

Speaker B

So I think it would be a good selling point.

Speaker B

And if anything, Kingsley, it buys them time to make that new content.

Speaker B

Everyone will be reliving the Destiny one years.

Speaker B

Even the people who never had a console that played Destiny 2 when it first came out on PC will now be able to go back and, you know, think about, how did we ever meet Cade?

Speaker B

You know, how did we meet the stranger?

Speaker B

How do we.

Speaker B

I want to go back and visit Venus again.

Speaker B

You know, and you remember, you remember the Destiny 1 story?

Speaker B

They would start out in Venus or actually start out in Cosmodrome.

Speaker B

You would learn about the Fallen, right?

Speaker B

And then we'd move on to Venus.

Speaker B

No spoilers.

Speaker B

And then you would learn about the Vex and then we'd move over to Mars.

Speaker B

You'd learn about this colony of cabal that eat planets, right?

Speaker B

They're planet eaters.

Speaker B

They're planet killers.

Speaker B

It was.

Speaker B

That's the way you break, that's the way you roll out the carpet for people who want to get into this world.

Speaker B

And my God, think of the hours and hours of content these people would play.

Speaker B

And of course they would have to, you'd have to pay for the revert, the big, you know, the remake of Destiny 1 or somehow I mentioned a, I mentioned a subscription model because how do you price Destiny 1?

Speaker B

That's already been made, you know, that's included in the Destiny 2 game.

Speaker B

And then you'd have to go, okay, well what about the people who already paid for Destiny 2?

Speaker A

Free?

Speaker B

Yeah, we'll be free.

Speaker A

See a subscription model coming anytime soon?

Speaker B

Like I said, that's the most hopeful way I see it.

Speaker B

But the subscription model, the great thing about that, you're bringing in new players that only have to risk $14 for that month if they don't like the game versus 60, 80, 100, or whatever the game costs.

Speaker B

Now if you've never bought it before, it would be less of a risk for people to try the game out.

Speaker B

And you can even have a free to play option like a lot of games have.

Speaker B

And you can play like the first, I don't know, five hours of content and then the door shuts and then they ask you to pay for it and you get a good taste if you like it or not.

Speaker B

But it just makes sense to me that Destiny 1 has always needed to be part of the new player experience.

Speaker B

And the fact that they just kicked it to the curb when they made Destiny 2 just never made sense to me.

Speaker B

So at least the basic, when I say Destiny one, I mean the basic campaigns, you know, till you get the level 18, it'll be called something else, I'm sure not level 18, but.

Speaker B

But you'll play all the raids.

Speaker B

Remember the raids were included in the, in the missions.

Speaker B

And then you had the, the raids, not raids.

Speaker B

I mean the strikes were included in the missions as you were playing Destiny 1.

Speaker B

And then you would have the raids to play once you got to certain points in the game.

Speaker B

So I don't know, man.

Speaker B

I know it's.

Speaker B

I know it's very pie in the sky, but I'm trying to think how Sony could do it on a budget and not spread out the risk, you know, can spread out the risk.

Speaker B

Upon a lot of nostalgia, a lot of players heard about Destiny 1, never played it because they never owned a console or were too young or whatever.

Speaker B

But now they can.

Speaker B

You could, you could just see the promotion, man, go back to where it all started, you know, and then, then we can replay all the Red War campaign and then go to forsaken campaign and then finish up to where we are now with the final shape.

Speaker B

It's a perfect, it's a perfect world.

Speaker B

But like you said, that's a good idea.

Speaker A

But like they should have be doing that right now though, if they haven't done it yet and they didn't hear the news.

Speaker B

Exactly.

Speaker A

Not going to happen mid next year either though.

Speaker A

They're wasting this instead.

Speaker B

They're wasting six months on this marathon game.

Speaker B

This marathon game is not going to.

Speaker A

They're also wasting the time on the involved team is what I'm saying.

Speaker A

Like because if they were going to do your plan, they shouldn't be working on the unvaulting as a free thing.

Speaker A

They should just group it all together.

Speaker A

Maybe your destiny.

Speaker A

One thing, you know, maybe they're.

Speaker B

Maybe they're remastering it but calling it Unvaulted.

Speaker B

You are technically going to get the content back.

Speaker B

But how they.

Speaker B

How you get it back.

Speaker B

They never really told us can be.

Speaker A

The same engine though.

Speaker A

It has to be because we have the same engine right now.

Speaker B

Yeah, because they have to.

Speaker B

Remember they said they have to remaster the game.

Speaker B

They didn't have a playable version of the game because they had to.

Speaker B

They had to remaster it for the new improved engine that we now play Destiny on Destiny 2.

Speaker A

No, the new improved graphic engine, not the new Tiger engine.

Speaker A

So if they were doing your plan, we'd have to have the 80% rest of the game we currently have also in the new engine.

Speaker A

I realize that's not happening.

Speaker B

I really, I realize that would take time and that's why I think it would take a full year for them to.

Speaker A

No, no, that would take a couple years at least.

Speaker A

I would say.

Speaker A

Okay, yeah, well because a whole new engine and everything.

Speaker B

But you know, anyways, add to the fact that they only have 380 people, not 1300 anymore.

Speaker B

Yeah, it's a big.

Speaker A

The last thing on my list.

Speaker A

And then of course we can have additional things we think of.

Speaker A

But I'm glad you brought up the point about Datto and he said he's actually not back because another thing that everyone that I think bringing the stuff back that was gone is good for people that never experienced it of course.

Speaker A

But I think sometimes people put too much into those of us that have already experienced and like yeah, it got me to stop playing the game because they took away the stuff.

Speaker A

I don't believe those people always because exactly what I thought is what I'm reading now.

Speaker A

Yeah, some people in some discords when they heard this news that the unvaulted content is coming back and then they were still like not sure if they're going to come back.

Speaker A

See my point?

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

This isn't the golden savior that'll bring everyone back.

Speaker B

That's why I mean I'm gonna.

Speaker A

Look idea is better for bringing everyone back, but just the unvaulted stuff is not going to be bringing everyone back.

Speaker A

Sure, there'll be some excitement.

Speaker A

We'll get a bump again.

Speaker A

And.

Speaker A

And those of us that like to raid will continue to raid.

Speaker A

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, right?

Speaker A

This isn't a negative thing.

Speaker A

I'm just saying I kind of knew this in the back of my mind and some people were already confirming it.

Speaker A

I'm like, see?

Speaker A

Yeah, they didn't.

Speaker A

They, they.

Speaker A

Because I can read people pretty well and I can kind of tell that they were just BSing back then too.

Speaker A

Like, yeah, I understand being upset about taking stuff away, but unless we see, and I'm not going to name names, but unless we see like all these people coming back when all the unvaulted stuff comes back and already some of them, I read, they're not still that impressed.

Speaker A

Yeah, I don't exactly.

Speaker A

That was my point.

Speaker A

Like, this isn't bringing everyone back.

Speaker B

I mean, I, I'm.

Speaker B

I, I love that they're bringing it back.

Speaker B

I mean, I can't wait.

Speaker B

First thing I want to do probably is go play Leviathan raids and all the raid layers again.

Speaker B

That was a lot of fun.

Speaker B

I had a lot of great memories.

Speaker B

That's probably the one raid I've got the most runs in.

Speaker A

Oh, I, Yeah, I have need to talk about this too.

Speaker A

Sorry.

Speaker A

I did have one other point.

Speaker A

Yeah, go ahead though.

Speaker A

I want to talk about the raids.

Speaker B

No, I'm just.

Speaker B

No, I'm just saying that that'd be the first thing I'd want to do because I'd want to get my new and improved inaugural address.

Speaker B

Best pulsar.

Speaker A

Yes, that comes back.

Speaker A

Because they didn't talk about weapons.

Speaker A

They just.

Speaker A

Yeah, I know, I know.

Speaker A

I don't understand.

Speaker A

Also, again, for people that didn't experience those raids.

Speaker A

I get it.

Speaker A

And of course we're gonna have fun running them again.

Speaker A

But people, if you think those raids that were gone were the best raids, then you're not much of a raider.

Speaker A

Because they are pretty baby raids compared to what we have these days.

Speaker A

They're pretty basic.

Speaker A

They're like, once you run them, you're kind of like, oh, that's it.

Speaker A

And people were even noticing that.

Speaker A

Some with Pantheon, with the little bit that we got back from the countless encounter.

Speaker A

The Eater World's encounter, Crown of Sorrow is one of the better ones.

Speaker A

Right?

Speaker A

But people are like, oh, that's it.

Speaker A

Like, yeah, I'm trying to tell you, people, People had too many.

Speaker A

Remember berries?

Speaker A

In my opinion.

Speaker A

Yes, they were fun.

Speaker A

I'm not saying they weren't fun.

Speaker A

But things got better.

Speaker A

The newer raids got better.

Speaker A

And so again, this isn't the golden goose just because we're getting old raids back.

Speaker A

Because those raids weren't as comprehensive, weren't as mechanically involved.

Speaker A

They weren't as.

Speaker A

I'm not saying hard.

Speaker A

I'm just saying, like, they kind of considered baby rates compared to what we have these days.

Speaker B

Yeah, yeah, like I said, that's fine.

Speaker A

If that's what you like.

Speaker B

But.

Speaker A

But for people that rate a lot, this.

Speaker A

We're not impressed, really.

Speaker A

It'll be nice that they're coming back, but, you know.

Speaker B

Yeah, like I said, I wasn't.

Speaker B

I don't know, man.

Speaker B

I just.

Speaker B

I just.

Speaker B

I mean, I was happy to hear about it because there's a lot of friends of mine that I really want them to experience the early, early parts of Destiny 2.

Speaker B

I played that first initial campaign so many times.

Speaker A

But yeah, like, I don't even care to play the campaign again, but I want my friends who haven't experienced it to experience.

Speaker A

I'm so excited for them.

Speaker A

I'm excited to get back in the raids.

Speaker A

Even though they are not my favorite raids, I'll still be having fun hanging with people.

Speaker A

I hang with people all the time in raids that I don't like.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker A

I'll even HD text in the chat.

Speaker A

Even though I hate rid of nightmares.

Speaker A

If you ask me to run a raid of that one, I'll run it with you because it's more about the friend game experience than.

Speaker A

Than anything else.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

You know, like I said, it was great to hear, you know, the apology video, but I really think it was.

Speaker B

I really think the ultimate reason they did it is to try to shift the blame off of Marathon and try to get more Destiny players to jump in.

Speaker B

Because if you notice, they went right in just a couple days later, went right into the roadmap for Marathon.

Speaker B

While eyes were on Bungie, they wanted to roll out everything they're going to be talking about for Marathon.

Speaker B

I really think that was a.

Speaker B

That was a big part of that video, that five minute video they put out.

Speaker B

And yeah, you're right.

Speaker B

There was no lead for Destiny, was there?

Speaker B

There is no.

Speaker B

At least we didn't see anybody.

Speaker B

Nobody was announced, technically or officially.

Speaker B

That is the lead of Destiny.

Speaker B

So just the lead of Bungie.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Well, it doesn't mean there can't be one coming up soon.

Speaker B

No, exactly.

Speaker A

Maybe as of right now, there's.

Speaker B

Yeah, like I said, I think Sony, they probably approached him and said, listen, we have some really good ideas for Marathon.

Speaker B

Maybe they talk Sony into not cutting the game yet.

Speaker B

Let's give it one more shot here.

Speaker B

Let's see if we can get more PvE in there and try to get people to play it.

Speaker B

And even.

Speaker B

Even the boot, we can start.

Speaker B

We can announce something that we're going to unvault.

Speaker B

All of the Destiny 2 content that was vaulted.

Speaker B

People will be real excited about that.

Speaker B

It'll create good karma, you know, for the Bungee brand.

Speaker B

And Sony is probably like, all right, go ahead.

Speaker A

And no, Sony was even the ones in their.

Speaker A

In their financials, they're like, we have a lot of trust in Marathon and we know they'll do good.

Speaker A

So it could actually be from the Sony side.

Speaker A

Wow.

Speaker B

I don't know who's over there.

Speaker A

We talked about this.

Speaker B

I know.

Speaker B

I don't know what those.

Speaker B

I don't know what those execs in the C suite are smoking, but, I mean, I haven't seen really great numbers with Marathon.

Speaker B

And, I mean, I realize you've told me this a million times.

Speaker B

Not.

Speaker B

You're not maybe the person for every game.

Speaker B

Maybe the game's just not for you.

Speaker B

But it just doesn't seem like they found any players that want to play this game.

Speaker B

And, you know, I'll try out the PvE.

Speaker B

I've already bought the game, so I. I may.

Speaker B

I'll try the PvE version.

Speaker B

I'll see what's involved if it lets me get my bounties done and everything without having to worry about getting shot when I try to extract nothing.

Speaker B

You know, if a PvE enemy shoots me, then fine, that's on me.

Speaker B

I need to be smarter.

Speaker A

I. I think two things can be true at the same time.

Speaker A

You're right.

Speaker A

Like, I. I do agree it's not the game for most people.

Speaker A

It was too niche.

Speaker A

I also agree that it could be considered a good game for the people that like it.

Speaker A

And I also agree that a studio doesn't have to make all their games the same or similar because, again, the World of Warcraft and Diablo example, you know, you do.

Speaker A

I mean, can you imagine, like, the Diablo people were like, well, World of Warcraft isn't like Diablo.

Speaker A

Why are you making this game?

Speaker A

World of Warcraft was a huge success, and Diablo came out first.

Speaker A

And so, like, can you imagine if they never made World of Warcraft?

Speaker A

Now, I'm not saying that's going to happen with Marathon.

Speaker A

All I'm saying is the point's not valid that they need to make all the games the same that everyone's going to like, you know.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

So, I mean, that's pretty much all I had to say about.

Speaker B

About the Destiny announcement and stuff.

Speaker B

I mean, is there anything else, Anybody in the comments section?

Speaker A

I think I got so many points.

Speaker B

Yeah, I think we kind of covered it.

Speaker B

I was going to separate it by, you know, by a segment, but I think we kind of got it all.

Speaker A

It gets too hard doing that, right?

Speaker B

It does, yeah.

Speaker B

It breaks up the conversation.

Speaker B

I did want to mention a couple things we mentioned.

Speaker B

Marathon has some, you know, had a big teaser.

Speaker B

Arc Raiders also had a big teaser this week.

Speaker B

I just want to bring it up while I'm thinking about it.

Speaker B

From October 13 to October 20, this was very good news.

Speaker B

Today, Arc Raiders will be beta testing a PvE only matchmaking toggle.

Speaker B

And they say, hey, come try it out.

Speaker B

Let us know what you think.

Speaker B

Your feedback will help us in determining if it works and what the future of this content, you know, could look like.

Speaker B

And I am fully supporting a PvE only game for Arc Raiders because I think the enemies alone and the worlds are so challenging.

Speaker B

They really don't even need to.

Speaker B

The.

Speaker B

The.

Speaker B

The PvE element was just tacked on at the end.

Speaker B

I mean, it was originally a PvE game and it's ironic that Marathon was originally a PvP game and.

Speaker B

And they're trying to make it a PvE game now so they're.

Speaker B

Everybody's trying to pivot.

Speaker B

But I can tell you I've been keeping a close ear to the Arc Raiders community.

Speaker B

I would say a good 80% of that community wants a PvE mode.

Speaker B

And then of course, you have all your diehards that are saying, well, if you put PvE only in this game, you're ruining it.

Speaker B

You're ruining the game.

Speaker B

I don't think so.

Speaker B

I disagree.

Speaker B

I love just jumping in and scouring and grabbing stuff and getting missions done and completing stuff we need to get for checklist and stuff.

Speaker B

I love that kind of stuff.

Speaker B

And the thing is that I think they'll be adding a PvE only mode once they try this beta test out.

Speaker B

But I just want to announce it for those of you who play arc Raiders October 13 through October 20, make sure you show up and test and hit that toggle on matchmaking where it's PvE only.

Speaker B

And let's see how.

Speaker B

Let's see how it turns out.

Speaker B

I think it's going to be a very successful test because people have been crying for it for a long time now.

Speaker B

And I can go down the.

Speaker B

I can go down the.

Speaker B

The, the, the, the.

Speaker B

The hole.

Speaker B

The.

Speaker B

What are the gopher hole or whatever.

Speaker B

The rabbit hole.

Speaker B

About why they don't want to make a PvE only game.

Speaker B

It's very similar to Destiny's problem, but I'm not going to talk about that.

Speaker B

No, it's the same problem for Destiny, the Destiny Live service game.

Speaker B

It's the fact that they're worried about people playing through their content too quickly and not having anything left to play, which was Destiny's problem a long time.

Speaker B

A lot.

Speaker B

Because people would blast through the content.

Speaker B

We're insatiable.

Speaker B

If we really love playing the game and we're Die Hards playing eight hours a day, you're going to burn through the content and then there's not going to be anything left to play.

Speaker B

And then you're just going to say, well, there's nothing to play and you move on to something else.

Speaker B

And Arc Raiders Embark is so afraid of that.

Speaker B

But they.

Speaker B

What the.

Speaker B

Here's the thing they have going for them.

Speaker B

They have this huge discoverable world that has these autonomous robots that try to stay alive.

Speaker B

That alone is part of the game and will keep people playing the game is my.

Speaker B

In my opinion.

Speaker B

So anyway.

Speaker B

And they have a major cheating problem right now.

Speaker B

Do you know they have.

Speaker B

This is how much cheating they've been getting away with cheating.

Speaker B

There's China servers in Arc Raiders right now that have zombie players where players are there.

Speaker B

You have all these farming accounts that are putting players in these maps.

Speaker B

I think it's damn battlegrounds right now.

Speaker B

And they literally are afk, but they're bots running them where they make a move a little bit so they don't get kicked.

Speaker B

And they're basically farming these accounts because you get XP for staying on the world and not shooting a thing.

Speaker B

You get XP for just showing up and being on the world.

Speaker B

So they're farming these accounts and I think the reason they're farming these accounts is because everybody's coming back to play the October update.

Speaker B

You're gonna have all these people who want to get these preloaded accounts with all the skill trees unlocked and stuff.

Speaker B

And it's a big problem right now, man.

Speaker B

And cheating is people.

Speaker B

People are complaining about cheating in the PvP stuff.

Speaker B

Who cares?

Speaker B

In PvP and PvE.

Speaker B

All right.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

You can freeze the.

Speaker B

Freeze the enemies and shoot them to death and blow them up.

Speaker B

Great.

Speaker B

Have fun.

Speaker B

Knock yourself out.

Speaker B

But when it comes to players versus players and you're cheating because you have aim bots and you have X ray Vision.

Speaker B

You can see everybody on the map and just go shoot them and take all their crap.

Speaker B

That's going to kill the game.

Speaker B

Not a PvE mode.

Speaker B

Just want to put it out there.

Speaker B

Anyway, I'm very opinionated when it comes to that game because I do enjoy.

Speaker A

Well, then.

Speaker A

Well, then you have to use the Same logic that PvE mode is going to help Marathon.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

How many cheat.

Speaker B

Do they have a cheating problem in Marathon?

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker A

No, no, no.

Speaker A

I'm just saying in general.

Speaker A

Yeah, PvE mode will help.

Speaker B

Well, here's the thing.

Speaker B

Here's what I've heard about the PvE mode in Marathon.

Speaker B

They're basically expanding the first map where it's not such a small little map.

Speaker B

They've got these little fungus fields that they're going to be.

Speaker B

They're basically unlocking other parts of the map and making it larger.

Speaker A

But there's more in the December and March thing like that.

Speaker A

You don't know.

Speaker B

And, and you have the.

Speaker B

Yeah, and you also have the PvE mode where you go to, you know, shoot the final boss up in the ship.

Speaker B

I just don't.

Speaker B

Honestly, man, I don't think.

Speaker B

Well, I understand that.

Speaker B

Deadpool 1America.

Speaker B

I know, I know all games have cheaters, especially if you're on PC, because it's so easy to hack into these systems if you have a PC versus a PC.

Speaker B

But the thing is, is I don't think Marathon's gonna have enough content.

Speaker B

You know, Marathon has their bots and stuff, but all their bots look very similar versus Arc Raiders, which you have all kinds of different shapes and shot sizes and they all have personalities and they all do different things to shoot and kill you.

Speaker B

And they have these new enemies bringing.

Speaker A

In going to be added at all.

Speaker B

Well, let's put this way.

Speaker B

They have a.

Speaker B

They have.

Speaker B

They have an enemy Kingsley, called the frigate that's going to be coming in October.

Speaker A

Well, I, I said you don't think anything new, like in the December or March?

Speaker B

I haven't heard anything about new enemies.

Speaker B

All I've heard about is that the map's going to get bigger.

Speaker B

It's going to be more open, more flexible for new players, onboarding experiences, and you don't have to worry about other people shooting you so you can complete objectives and stuff.

Speaker B

And like I said, I'm going to try it.

Speaker B

I already bought the game, man.

Speaker B

It's already installed on my PS5.

Speaker B

I got nothing to lose.

Speaker B

But as far as new players trying it or trying to bring Back the entire player base that started it.

Speaker B

I don't see it, man.

Speaker B

I just don't see it there.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

We'll see.

Speaker B

Maybe I'm wrong.

Speaker B

Prove me wrong.

Speaker B

I really want to see Bungie be successful, period.

Speaker B

But man, Marathon was just such a bad, bad move.

Speaker B

Just was such a bad move.

Speaker B

The community was telling them not to make this game and they still made it.

Speaker B

That's why they talked about in their video about their aspirations and visions, but not, you know, listening to their player base.

Speaker B

It was apology videos, all that, all that was.

Speaker B

So they're just trying to keep their player base intact.

Speaker B

I think Bungie's trying to survive right now because once these developers are done with Marathon and once that game fails and it's gonna, what are they gonna, what are they gonna make?

Speaker B

Their guess they're gonna unvault Destiny content, but other than that, what are they going to make?

Speaker B

There's nothing on the, there's nothing been green lit for Bungie to make.

Speaker B

They're in survival mode right now, man.

Speaker B

They really are.

Speaker B

And I hate to be such a.

Speaker A

Hater on this, but you claim your ideas greenlit the full Destiny.

Speaker B

I said that was the most, that was my most hopeful.

Speaker B

If, if Destiny in fact is reborn, that is the way they need to do it.

Speaker B

And if, if they don't do it that way and they just bring back some unvaulted come content in Destiny 2 and people would finally join and play the Red War and then look around and go, who the.

Speaker B

Who's this?

Speaker B

Who's this black lady over here?

Speaker B

Who's this, who's this bald dude in the front throwing up a bubble so we don't all get blown up.

Speaker B

I don't know anything about these people.

Speaker B

You have to play the first game to understand who these people are.

Speaker B

And if you don't play, if you can't play the game because it's on consoles only, then I think people read.

Speaker A

Into that too much.

Speaker A

I'm going to talk about a game I'm playing that came out today and I didn't play the first game and I'm perfectly fine.

Speaker B

You know what?

Speaker B

Let's do that.

Speaker B

It's a good, that's a good segue.

Speaker B

Let's, let's do our catch up segment, man.

Speaker B

We've, I think we've exhausted the, the arguments or the, the comments we've had on our takes on the Destiny Reborn thing.

Speaker B

Let's, let's catch up and talk about what we've been doing this week.

Speaker B

What We've been playing and gaming and everything right after this.

Speaker A

Hello out there.

Speaker A

This is Allocation and you're listening to the Guardian Down Roundtable.

Speaker B

All right, ladies and gentlemen, this is the part of our show where we catch up and see what we've been doing for the week.

Speaker B

And I'll start with you, Kingsley.

Speaker B

What do you, what, what do you want to talk about this week, man?

Speaker B

I think you said you were playing a new game.

Speaker B

You got the floor.

Speaker A

Yeah, it was a game that was on my list from earlier in the year and as it was getting, I mean, I already kind of knew I would buy it.

Speaker A

This is part of like when we had previous discussions in the past, like a whole calculus goes into my head of like I don't totally just listen to professional reviews or user reviews.

Speaker A

It's like partially.

Speaker A

I look at the trailer of the game and if it looks interesting to me.

Speaker A

Yeah, then I'll add in a little bit of, you know, professional reviews, a little bit of user reviews.

Speaker A

Well, regardless, they were really good.

Speaker A

Anyways, Control resonant came out.

Speaker B

Oh, I've been, I've been, I've been keeping my ear to the ground on that game.

Speaker A

Oh, it is amazing.

Speaker B

Tell me about it.

Speaker B

Tell me about it.

Speaker B

What, what do you like about it?

Speaker A

And I did not play the first game Control.

Speaker A

And I don't think you need to because there is like a little bit of intro at the beginning.

Speaker A

But regardless, like, you can just consider it a separate game as it is because it's not like, it's like bringing all these things up where you have to know what's happening.

Speaker A

Because I don't know the first game and I'm having fun.

Speaker A

It doesn't seem confusing or anything.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker A

It's like.

Speaker A

And, and, and I think it's going to be cool because I'm going to explain it in my own words.

Speaker A

Especially since I haven't played the first game of what I played so far.

Speaker A

It seems like some X Files Fringe meets Inception video game.

Speaker A

Like a exploration adventure action game.

Speaker A

It's a single player game.

Speaker A

It's so fun.

Speaker A

The movement's fun.

Speaker A

It doesn't feel sluggish.

Speaker A

And this also helps too.

Speaker A

I'm running it 4K FSR.

Speaker A

It's really, really good.

Speaker A

120 Frames.

Speaker B

Nice.

Speaker A

It's.

Speaker A

It's just a really fun game so far and they had a lot of cool elements into it and I don't even know what's happening all the way or what's going to happen, but I'm not even concerned because I'm just vibing so far, so I highly recommend it.

Speaker A

It was.

Speaker A

It's mostly been getting a lot of good reviews, and so if anyone's kind of into a game like that, just.

Speaker A

I.

Speaker A

Again, I just consider it like X Files meets Fringe meets Inception and, like a video game.

Speaker A

Wow.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker B

I'm trying to vision that.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker A

Well, just little elements.

Speaker A

It's not like you blend everything together, but.

Speaker A

Yeah, that's kind of like the way I'm.

Speaker B

Is it like a first player perspective or a third person or.

Speaker A

I don't even see.

Speaker A

I don't care about things like that.

Speaker A

It's.

Speaker A

I think it's third person.

Speaker A

You're looking down on the person a little bit.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

Gotcha.

Speaker B

Behind the shoulder kind of.

Speaker A

Okay.

Speaker A

You're not using.

Speaker A

You're not using guns and stuff, but you are using weapons and maybe there'll be guns later on, I don't know.

Speaker A

Okay.

Speaker A

And you're using powers and stuff and.

Speaker A

Yeah, it's really fun.

Speaker B

Nice.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker A

And I've been playing a lot of Diablo.

Speaker A

Sin was in the chat earlier, but he left.

Speaker A

This season is really good.

Speaker A

I mean, I generally think there's good things of all the seasons, but this season's even a little bit more fun than last season.

Speaker A

And Sin and I have been hitting it hard.

Speaker A

And we made it to endgame.

Speaker A

Kind of nice.

Speaker A

Well, okay.

Speaker A

Sorry.

Speaker A

We made it to final endgame, kind of.

Speaker A

Now, there's still things you can do to progress more, but I mean, like, the seasonal triumphs.

Speaker A

When I say, like, final endgame, like, they have different Torment tiers, 1 through 12.

Speaker A

That's endgame.

Speaker A

And each one goes harder and you get better gear when you move up within the tiers.

Speaker A

But then they also have, like, these capstone dungeons and seasonal objectives if you want to do all this stuff.

Speaker A

And that's kind of part of the end game, too.

Speaker A

And kind of like the main capstone thing, at least what they try to push each season is Mephisto on Torment 10.

Speaker B

That's what he was talking about.

Speaker A

And so Sin and I were.

Speaker A

Okay, yeah.

Speaker A

Sin, no.

Speaker B

Who's Mephisto Man?

Speaker A

It's funny because it's so funny because I.

Speaker A

When the season did start, it's fairly new, I think Sin got really interested, too, because we could kind of start on the same playing field.

Speaker A

I get it.

Speaker A

But at the same time, people, it's like, it helps to not worry about where your friends are, because I think most of us are always willing to go back.

Speaker A

And I did that a lot with Sen Like, I didn't care.

Speaker A

Like, I was higher and he was lower.

Speaker A

I'm like, I don't want to do those other activities with you.

Speaker A

Like, no, it's fun.

Speaker A

Just because I'm still getting good loot.

Speaker A

Diablo does it better than most games that even if you're playing on their level, you're still getting a lot of good loot.

Speaker A

In fact, you get extra XP when you're in a team too.

Speaker A

So, of course, playing as a team compared to just playing solo, they're rewarding.

Speaker B

You for helping your friends get caught up.

Speaker A

Huh.

Speaker B

Imagine that.

Speaker A

So, yeah, imagine that.

Speaker A

So anyways, got Sin leveled up a lot really fast.

Speaker A

And then we almost did that last night, but then we were too low.

Speaker A

Or was it two nights ago?

Speaker A

I don't remember now, but.

Speaker A

But then I played.

Speaker A

You know, I have more time to play solo than him.

Speaker A

And then I leveled up some more on my own.

Speaker A

Got some really good drops, and then I was able to do the hard thing solo.

Speaker A

So I'm like, okay, Sin, I can pull you through now.

Speaker A

And then he was joking, like, let's do it on the show.

Speaker A

I'm like, no, sorry.

Speaker A

Because you have to focus pretty well on the Mephisto boss fight.

Speaker A

Plus, I wanted to focus on this show being at my last one and all for a main show.

Speaker A

And so.

Speaker A

But, you know, I'll help send through it sometime here soon enough.

Speaker B

Sounds good.

Speaker B

Sounds good.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Those are the two main games.

Speaker A

I mean, I still go into cyberpunk some, but this last week was mostly Diablo.

Speaker A

And then, boy, I'm sure loving this control resonant game.

Speaker A

So highly recommend it there.

Speaker A

Okay.

Speaker A

And as always, we're having fun raiding.

Speaker A

I did a Wednesday night raid.

Speaker A

It's been a few weeks since I've done that.

Speaker A

And we picked Garden of Salvation and we got it done so fast in under an hour, we decided to do another raid.

Speaker A

And then we did Kings Fall and did that really well too.

Speaker A

And had a lot of fun with the crew that was raiding last night.

Speaker A

So shout out to them.

Speaker B

Nice, man.

Speaker B

I saw you guys raiding.

Speaker B

I was curious what you guys were playing.

Speaker B

That's awesome, man.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

And work is good.

Speaker A

Life is good.

Speaker A

Just gonna be chilling here coming up.

Speaker A

You know, this time of year, it's kind of, you know, it was busy for work for a few weeks, but then it gets slow a little bit again.

Speaker A

I don't know.

Speaker A

I have too much else to say, but, you know, maybe I'll add not so much like what I'm doing, but just in Another segment coming up.

Speaker A

Just some more thoughts.

Speaker A

I don't have too much else to say right now.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker B

Yeah, for me, I've been playing a little bit of more cyberpunk.

Speaker B

I've been playing a little bit more of God of War, the 2018 version with his son.

Speaker B

Really miss those.

Speaker B

I really dropped the ball, man.

Speaker B

I should have definitely played that game earlier.

Speaker B

It's so much fun.

Speaker B

The boss fights, the.

Speaker B

The fight mechanics and everything are just so much fun.

Speaker B

And the graphics, my God, this is a PS4 game.

Speaker B

And it looks so good on my PS5 Pro, man.

Speaker B

I don't know if it's the PSSR2 or whatever that they just.

Speaker B

That's the new update they just did to the PS5, but man, it looks good.

Speaker B

It looks really good.

Speaker B

I've been watching a lot of tv.

Speaker B

America's Got Talent, the.

Speaker B

The.

Speaker B

The final, I guess the finale.

Speaker B

The finale or whatever they want to call it was just last night.

Speaker B

I was just watching it.

Speaker B

It pre taped and I was watching it and the little girl from Thailand, I think she was 16 years old, won the show.

Speaker B

She was electric guitarist and like a.

Speaker A

Hard rocker, you know.

Speaker A

16 Year olds do not want to be called little girls.

Speaker B

Well, you know what I mean, man, she's not really a woman yet.

Speaker B

Right?

Speaker B

She's 16, so.

Speaker B

But yeah, I'm trying to remember her name.

Speaker B

I was trying to pull it up and somehow my windows aren't working right now.

Speaker B

But it is.

Speaker B

She was really good and definitely just won the whole thing, man.

Speaker B

She's really good.

Speaker B

She played nice.

Speaker B

She played the finale with.

Speaker B

Who does she play?

Speaker B

She played with.

Speaker B

Oh, she played with one of your favorite rock groups.

Speaker B

You've mentioned it before.

Speaker B

They have a new documentary coming out at the movies here soon, which I'm gonna definitely see.

Speaker B

90S grunge group.

Speaker B

Oh, man, I'm just dying right now.

Speaker B

My.

Speaker B

For some reason I'm curious what you're.

Speaker A

Talking about too, because I can't think of.

Speaker B

Is not.

Speaker A

90S grunge was not my favorite music.

Speaker A

I mean, I liked it, but.

Speaker B

It was kind of a.

Speaker B

It was rock with a little bit of hip hop in it.

Speaker B

Little hip hop beat.

Speaker A

Oh, Eastie boys.

Speaker B

No, no.

Speaker B

You're getting closer though.

Speaker B

Let me, let me see if I can pull it up here.

Speaker B

Trying to see if I can get it to.

Speaker A

Yeah, now, now you're adding hip hop.

Speaker A

I'm like a grunge a little bit.

Speaker B

It had a hip hop track.

Speaker B

It had a hip hop track in it.

Speaker A

Okay, I'm really curious now.

Speaker A

Let's see if.

Speaker B

Dude, 90s grunge was my, I definitely love 90s grunge.

Speaker B

It was a good time.

Speaker B

I'm gonna use my phone because for some reason my, it's okay if you can't find it.

Speaker B

Geez Louise.

Speaker B

But anyway, very popular band, Lincoln Park.

Speaker B

Lincoln park, yes.

Speaker B

Played with Lincoln Frickin park, man.

Speaker B

And they have, they have a badass female lead vocalist now too.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker B

Dude, they were rocking it, man.

Speaker B

They, you're right.

Speaker A

They do have some kind of minor song wrapping in there.

Speaker B

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker B

They have like a backtrack.

Speaker B

I don't know what you call it, but it's like a. Oh, like even.

Speaker A

Their vocals are kind of at times.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

Oh yeah.

Speaker B

Stp, man.

Speaker B

Yeah, man.

Speaker B

I, I, I was a big Foo Fighters fan back, you know, once, once Foo Fighters was, was created.

Speaker B

I've been following them ever since, man.

Speaker B

I'm a big Foo Fighters guy.

Speaker B

Anyway, yeah, it was really good.

Speaker B

I'm trying to.

Speaker B

You know what, I'm just going to ask it live on the show.

Speaker B

Who won this year's America's Got Talent?

Speaker B

Her name is.

Speaker B

She won a million dollars.

Speaker B

Nene Royal.

Speaker B

Nae Nae Roll is her name.

Speaker B

Look that up on YouTube and you'll see some of her performances.

Speaker B

And there was a musician named Gino Plager who was in second place, but man, what a God.

Speaker B

She just killed it every time.

Speaker B

You've met Dave Grohl based Windu.

Speaker B

He's the most laid back guy.

Speaker B

That's what I love about Dave Grohl.

Speaker B

He's just friends of everybody.

Speaker B

He has no attitude, man.

Speaker B

Just loves everybody.

Speaker B

I love that attitude.

Speaker B

And he likes Manfred Man.

Speaker B

Manford, Manford man, band member.

Speaker A

I know Taco King.

Speaker B

Great, great.

Speaker A

There's some grunge elements, but I would consider it rap rock or maybe alternative.

Speaker B

But like anyway, yeah, Nene Royal.

Speaker B

Awesome, man.

Speaker B

It was just so freaking cool.

Speaker B

A little, little okay young woman just frickin.

Speaker B

And she could play guitar, man.

Speaker B

It was really good.

Speaker B

Anyway, going back to my week, I also watched the last week after the show.

Speaker B

Thursday nights is when the Traders, American Traders comes out and they had a double episode and so far I'm really liking it.

Speaker B

It's really good.

Speaker B

And in fact after the show tonight, I'll be watching the next episode because pretty much airs the same time as we're recording.

Speaker B

But I'm in three fantasy football leagues and I proud to say I'm in first place in both of my IRL leagues, the money leagues, Kick butt last week and of course Coderson, damn it.

Speaker B

You won by.

Speaker B

In the GDC fantasy football league.

Speaker B

He won by a hair because I had Puka Nakua ready to play.

Speaker B

And I told my.

Speaker B

My little, my little, my little conscious said, you know what, I know he's questionable, but Gator, you need to make sure you put someone else in because he's definitely not going to play.

Speaker B

And I'm like, get out of here, man.

Speaker B

Puka Naku's never missed.

Speaker B

He won't miss the game.

Speaker B

Well, he missed the game.

Speaker B

And Coderson, well played.

Speaker B

Coderson won that week.

Speaker B

So even after my quarterback got 40 fricking points.

Speaker B

Josh Allen is a beast.

Speaker B

He is a beast.

Speaker B

Anyway, so I'm doing really well on those.

Speaker B

I'm really happy.

Speaker B

I'm really doing well there.

Speaker B

And I think the packers and Atlanta Falcons are playing tonight.

Speaker B

I'm loving football season.

Speaker B

I love getting right back into it again.

Speaker B

My wife and I did see a movie this week using my AMC Stubs A list membership where I can see up to four movies free every week on any screen in any format.

Speaker B

And this week we saw kind of a dark comedy.

Speaker B

It's more of an independent film called the Musical.

Speaker B

It's about a frustrated playwright and middle school theater teacher who finds out his ex girlfriend has started dating his nemesis, which is the school's principal.

Speaker B

And guess who plays that?

Speaker B

Rob Lowe.

Speaker B

So Jillian Jacobs, if you remember, the blonde from Community.

Speaker B

She plays the girlfriend and Will Brill plays the theater teacher.

Speaker B

And he was hilarious, man.

Speaker B

He had this big payback scheme.

Speaker B

It all involves all these middle school children who are kind of the pawns in this big play that represent the school.

Speaker B

And the ending was freaking great.

Speaker B

Rotten Tomatoes was kind of mixed on this.

Speaker B

They gave it 62%.

Speaker B

I think the audience gave it more like an 89% or something like that.

Speaker B

I thought it was pretty engaging, pretty funny movie.

Speaker B

I mean, it's entered.

Speaker B

It did its job entertaining me.

Speaker B

And like I said, I, I thought I did okay.

Speaker B

I gave it three and a half stars.

Speaker B

If you have a, like a dark, twisted comedy mind, this movie is going to be right up your alley.

Speaker B

So it's kind of a revenge comedy.

Speaker B

It's really good though.

Speaker B

As far as Destiny goes, we didn't play any Destiny this Saturday night, but we did play with our, our fire team and a few plus ones.

Speaker B

We played a jackbox party game.

Speaker B

Group up and man, I had a great time.

Speaker B

I, I was laughing my ass off.

Speaker B

I wanted to also give a big shout out to Mrs. Ronin Red lion, who was brave enough to Join these hooligans that are part of the raid team.

Speaker B

And Mr. Amazing Taco King also just joining us and he did a pretty good job, man.

Speaker B

Pretty good job.

Speaker B

I. I thought I had a good shot at winning some of those games and man, I was.

Speaker B

I'm definitely better playing with my family than these guys.

Speaker B

They definitely are a lot smarter on these games.

Speaker A

Hopefully crazier than your family.

Speaker B

Yeah, of course.

Speaker A

We got pretty crazy.

Speaker B

Definitely, definitely after Dark.

Speaker B

Rated R. They definitely rated our time even more.

Speaker B

Maybe more.

Speaker B

But I really look forward to Saturday night because you know the raid runs we usually do.

Speaker B

It's my really my only time to play Destiny 2 and I don't know what we're going to do this.

Speaker B

Do you have any idea what we're going to do this.

Speaker B

I haven't been catching up with the talk.

Speaker B

Are we going to do a mystery raid wheel, spinning wheel or something this Saturday?

Speaker B

We haven't really figured it out yet.

Speaker A

We'll do whatever the most votes are.

Speaker A

I'm not even worried about it.

Speaker A

Something will come up.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

So Allocate has a mystery raid wheel and we'll probably spin it.

Speaker B

I have it live on the stream.

Speaker A

Well no, we also have some people.

Speaker A

I wouldn't say the word probably.

Speaker A

That is one option that need to get through desert perpetual and yeah but like we'll just.

Speaker A

Who knows.

Speaker B

It's all majority vote.

Speaker B

So whatever we decide to do, we all make a take a vote in the private group chat and go from there.

Speaker B

So I usually stream.

Speaker A

I think we were too drunk on life.

Speaker A

Not literally, but having so much fun that we didn't even really talk about it.

Speaker B

Oh we didn't.

Speaker B

We didn't.

Speaker B

Yeah, that's for sure.

Speaker B

Yeah, we played till like a good one am.

Speaker B

I mean it was a fun night man.

Speaker B

It was a good night.

Speaker B

Anyway, so if we do decide to do a raid, I usually stream about 10:30pm Eastern on Saturday nights.

Speaker B

So it's like a late, late night stream and it'll be on my Twitch and YouTube channels.

Speaker B

Todd the Gator if you guys want to tag along and see how we're doing.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker B

But yeah, that pretty much wraps up my week.

Speaker B

We do have some questions Kingsley from the community, a lot of it surrounding this week's announcement.

Speaker B

So yeah man, let's get into that right after this.

Speaker B

Be right back.

Speaker B

Hey Guardians, would you like to send us a question for the show?

Speaker B

There's several easy ways to do it.

Speaker B

First, join our Discord server server.

Speaker B

Discord GG Guardian down Roundtable.

Speaker B

There's a link in our show notes down below as well.

Speaker B

There's a channel in our discord labeled Podcast Questions where you can type in your question for the show.

Speaker B

So come hang out with us and we might read it out live.

Speaker B

Second, you can send us an email or what I really like is for you to send us a voicemail with your questionuardiandowcast.com and we might play it live on the podcast.

Speaker B

Podcast.

Speaker B

Think of it as talking with us right on the show.

Speaker B

Hey, we love voicemails, so let's hear them.

Speaker B

Thanks for listening.

Speaker B

And later, Guardian.

Speaker B

All right, boys and girls, this is the final part of our shows where we get our questions from you guys.

Speaker B

And we did get some questions this week with all the hubbub with Bungie and announcements and stuff.

Speaker B

The Dr. 3314 comes in and he says with the recent announcement, what are you most excited to revisit?

Speaker B

What are you most likely to re most excited to revisit?

Speaker B

Kingsley.

Speaker A

Fire of Stars Raid for me,.

Speaker B

I would say the original Leviathan Raid for me is what I'm looking forward to.

Speaker B

I love the original raid.

Speaker B

It was a lot of fun, got a lot of good.

Speaker B

I had a lot of good memories playing that Raid.

Speaker B

So that'll be my first thing.

Speaker B

What I'm looking for.

Speaker B

Dr. Ronan Red.

Speaker B

Jesus Christ.

Speaker B

Zombie.

Speaker B

Change your name back Zombie Pops.

Speaker B

Are we planning to run the Leviathan the Saturday it finally comes back?

Speaker B

I'm in that.

Speaker B

You got my vote, man.

Speaker B

You got my vote.

Speaker B

Vampire.

Speaker B

The Gator.

Speaker B

Are we back, baby?

Speaker B

Not so fast.

Speaker B

You probably listened to the first part of the show.

Speaker B

We're not so convinced we're back.

Speaker A

It depends on what people's definitions of back are.

Speaker A

I think sometimes people just say that when they haven't really thought it through.

Speaker A

But hey, if.

Speaker A

If the most important thing to you was having the sunset content back, then we are totally back, baby.

Speaker A

Yeah, but it'll be interesting to see what else can happen.

Speaker A

And right now it's still a little unsure.

Speaker B

Yep, Zombie Pops, he says, I thought of another question.

Speaker B

Do you think this has anything to do with them winning the lawsuit about the Red War stuff?

Speaker B

Like they were thinking, let's make it unplayable until we get past the legal stuff and depending on what happens, circle back.

Speaker B

I will tell you, I've been following that lawsuit.

Speaker B

That guy got laughed out of court.

Speaker B

He didn't have any of his crap together.

Speaker B

Excuse me.

Speaker B

It was a.

Speaker B

He had a really tough point.

Speaker B

He really had a tough case trying to prove that the story was Hit.

Speaker B

Trying to prove.

Speaker B

Sorry, my throat cracked.

Speaker B

Trying to prove that the story was his.

Speaker B

He basically.

Speaker B

It got thrown out.

Speaker B

But instead of it being thrown out, I think they had.

Speaker B

I think he begged the court to reach a settlement where at least he could cover his.

Speaker B

His attorney's cost or something.

Speaker B

I don't even know if Bungie paid that or Sony or whoever was, you know, was against.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker B

No, I don't.

Speaker B

I honestly don't think they.

Speaker B

I don't think they really had anything playable, being it was Sunset with the new graphics engine, like you mentioned, Kingsley.

Speaker B

I don't.

Speaker B

I don't think.

Speaker B

Yeah, I don't think they had anything.

Speaker A

No.

Speaker A

Was he asking, was it because of the lawsuit?

Speaker A

We know they didn't have anything playable.

Speaker A

That's a different point.

Speaker A

Right, but.

Speaker B

Oh, you're thinking now that the lawsuit's over.

Speaker A

Yeah, yeah, I. I don't know if that.

Speaker A

I. I kind of basically agree, but a different way of putting it.

Speaker A

I.

Speaker A

Because I guess if that was their plan to do it.

Speaker A

But the thing is, is like, this lawsuit doesn't go all the way back to when they took the content away.

Speaker A

So I kind of think they already weren't planning on bringing it back.

Speaker A

And then.

Speaker A

Yeah, if for some reason the lawsuit comes around, I doubt they were like, well, we want to bring it back now, but the lawsuit's around, so we can't.

Speaker A

So I think they still just were thinking they weren't bringing it back because they already were thinking about not bringing it back.

Speaker A

Of course, now they can.

Speaker A

But I like what we were talking about earlier.

Speaker A

We think it's more damage control.

Speaker B

Yeah, I.

Speaker B

So you think it is.

Speaker B

Might have been a factor.

Speaker B

Okay,.

Speaker A

Not exactly.

Speaker A

No, No, I was saying I don't think it's a factor.

Speaker A

I just don't think.

Speaker A

I was just saying.

Speaker A

You were saying about the point that it was unplayable, but that's a separate point.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

And again, there was so much also with all this stuff going on still, people having incorrect information out there.

Speaker A

So I just have to say it again.

Speaker A

People are like, I thought the content was deleted and Bungie couldn't.

Speaker A

Couldn't bring it back.

Speaker A

No, they never said that.

Speaker A

They said it was unplayable, which was technically true.

Speaker A

They didn't say it was gone and the unplayable thing was true because they would have to revamp it for the new graphical engine to make it playable again.

Speaker A

And it was convenient also for the lawsuit reasons.

Speaker A

So it was true for that reason also.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker A

But it was never deleted.

Speaker A

It was never Impossible to bring back.

Speaker A

It was just they didn't want to or they couldn't for whatever reason until now.

Speaker B

On that same vein, barrel barley 406 says, do you think Bungie committing to unvaulting everything has anything to do with Project Sunrise?

Speaker A

I think there's a good chance, yeah.

Speaker A

Because again, that's kind of like what my prediction was going to be.

Speaker A

I. I don't know.

Speaker A

So much like, there's a way.

Speaker A

There's a lot of ways.

Speaker A

They could be thinking.

Speaker A

They could be thinking, oh, that's so cool what people are doing.

Speaker A

Even though we didn't want to do that, we might as well now because we're seeing the people really want it.

Speaker A

You know, Another way they could be thinking is damage control, where, oh, they're doing this, and we don't want them to have control of it, so we need to take control of it before they take control of it.

Speaker A

That's probably the more likely reason, just on the more skeptical side.

Speaker A

But whatever the reason, it doesn't matter.

Speaker A

I think, whatever the reason.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Basically, I'm kind of agreeing barrel barley, that it has a big impetus for it.

Speaker B

Yeah, I. I wasn't convinced that was the reason.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

May.

Speaker B

Maybe the fact that they saw that people were getting further and further into the content.

Speaker B

Maybe that.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

I. I don't know.

Speaker B

That's.

Speaker B

That's kind of thin.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

I don't.

Speaker B

I don't.

Speaker B

I don't.

Speaker B

I don't want to think that was the reason why they did it, but I don't know.

Speaker A

Didn't you say damage control also?

Speaker B

I understand.

Speaker B

I understand that part.

Speaker B

Maybe.

Speaker B

Yeah, maybe so.

Speaker B

I. I don't know.

Speaker B

I'm kind of lukewarm on that.

Speaker B

I. I don't.

Speaker B

But I was just.

Speaker B

Let's just put this way.

Speaker B

When I heard they were unvaulting everything that we had already paid for, I didn't think, oh, Project Sunset.

Speaker B

I didn't think, oh, it's because of Project Sunset.

Speaker B

Maybe it crossed my mind, but it wasn't definitively, I don't think a reason for me, at least in my mind.

Speaker A

So, I mean, I just give it a soft reason.

Speaker A

Also.

Speaker A

It's probably.

Speaker A

It could be one of several reasons why they decided to bring it back.

Speaker A

You know, sometimes businesses are like that.

Speaker A

They're like, well, it's.

Speaker A

We're not bringing it back yet.

Speaker A

And then someone comes in next week with the fifth reason.

Speaker A

Okay, reason one, people want it.

Speaker A

Reason two, Project Sunset.

Speaker A

Reason Three, we need damage control for Marathon.

Speaker A

Reason four, and by the time they get to the fourth or the fifth reason, they're like, okay, but still, the Project Sunset was maybe part of one of the many reasons why it's coming back.

Speaker B

B. Leahy has a question, but I want to leave that one for last.

Speaker B

Let's play one.

Speaker B

We have a voicemail from Uncle Scum Death and he needs some help from us.

Speaker B

Guys, here we go.

Speaker A

Hello, Scum Death here.

Speaker A

I am currently power level 355.

Speaker A

I do believe that the power cap is 550.

Speaker A

So if so, can I reach that power level just doing strikes Crucible Gambit.

Speaker A

Or do you have to do like the really hard stuff in Destiny to reach that power level?

Speaker A

Or can you just grind it for ages and then get there eventually?

Speaker A

Anyway, thanks and I love you all.

Speaker A

You.

Speaker B

Thanks, Uncle Scum Death.

Speaker B

Appreciate that.

Speaker B

By the way, guys, don't.

Speaker B

Don't be shy.

Speaker B

If you want to send us a voicemail like Uncle Scumb just did, it's guardian downcast.com and just hit that voicemail button and it'll set you right up.

Speaker B

You can record right from your phone.

Speaker B

It's real simple.

Speaker B

What do you think, Kingsley?

Speaker B

I think we talked about this before the show.

Speaker B

I thought that Bungie pretty much made anything you do in the game to a certain degree, not anything, give you powerful gear.

Speaker B

I think that's up to a certain point though.

Speaker B

I think if you want to go from like what, 540 to 550, you need to play other.

Speaker A

No, it's not even that.

Speaker A

It's just.

Speaker A

It's just you got to look at the portal.

Speaker A

It's been that reason for about a year or so now.

Speaker A

They.

Speaker A

They do try to make it easier with.

Speaker A

They have some playlist activities that are in the portal.

Speaker A

Like, especially if you do the.

Speaker A

The.

Speaker A

There's the quick play one that only goes up to.

Speaker A

What is it?

Speaker A

It's not Grandmaster.

Speaker A

Or is it.

Speaker A

No, maybe it does go to Grandmaster, but it doesn't go to Ultimate.

Speaker A

I. I haven't looked for a while.

Speaker A

Cause I don't care.

Speaker A

First of all, by the way, don't stress about it.

Speaker A

You don't need to get to 550 for any particular reason.

Speaker A

Because also, especially if you play with other people, power doesn't matter.

Speaker A

But even if you don't play with other people, still power doesn't matter unless you're doing the really hard thing.

Speaker A

So if you're saying Scum Death, you don't want to do the hard things, then you also don't need to be the high level because the high level doesn't matter anything except for the very hard things.

Speaker A

But if you just like it for the number.

Speaker A

I understand you kind of have to look at the portal.

Speaker A

A lot of things do make it kind of easy.

Speaker A

If you're doing a lot of things, you'll level up.

Speaker A

You eventually have to start doing.

Speaker A

Looking at the playlist activities, it's not so much strikes Crucible, Gamut.

Speaker A

Well, it is Crucible also, but Crucible and then the other playlists of either the three person and the six person activities is the easier way.

Speaker A

You can also go into individual things.

Speaker A

But if you go into the individual things, you have to like play around with those things.

Speaker A

They'll tell you what power level you'll get as it drops.

Speaker A

So let's say you're like 480 or whatever.

Speaker A

And then you go into a specific activity and if you have it on the easiest mode, it may just say you're not getting anything plus, you know, but if you put up some extra modifiers and make it harder, then it'll say you get some plus.

Speaker A

But the easier way to do it is to go into the playlist activities that kind of matchmake you with some people or Crucible and again that match makes you with people and then, and then those will kind of level you up most if not all of the way.

Speaker A

There can be a point other than Crucible where to get to that last 500 ish to 550 where you're having to run.

Speaker A

It may look scary, like you're running the Master or the Grandmaster Matchmade playlist activities, but it doesn't normally feel as hard for people because you'll feel you'll be overpowered.

Speaker A

You'll.

Speaker A

You'll have the gear.

Speaker A

The power level really doesn't matter that much these days.

Speaker A

It's really just kind of how many modifiers they throw at you in the activity.

Speaker A

And if it's feeling too hard, then just don't run those.

Speaker A

Just have fun doing something else.

Speaker A

Just experience all the things and have fun.

Speaker A

You know, you can even like just do Crucible and Raiding and.

Speaker A

And I mean, I know you don't raid much, but like you don't have to worry about the Portal.

Speaker A

If it gets confusing, you can just do Crucible and Rating in theory and just.

Speaker A

I did that to get to 550 eventually.

Speaker A

I didn't.

Speaker A

I was.

Speaker A

I never liked the Portal and I was just kind of like, I don't care about the Power level.

Speaker A

But I eventually got to 550 by do enough of the weekly raids and then mostly the desert perpetual raid which got me up there.

Speaker B

Yeah, raids will definitely get you there.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker A

Yeah and the raids aren't hard especially if you're doing like Vault of Glass on the week that it's featured or whatever, you know.

Speaker B

And always it always boosts up to the highest power person in your power Guardian in your, in your, your, your, your fire team.

Speaker A

So the answer is a little complicated unfortunately still.

Speaker A

But it kind of tells you when you hover over each thing what, what they'll do.

Speaker B

I could have sworn I was getting 540 gear from like Yellow Bark, you know, enemies like the high value targets on some of the patrol areas.

Speaker B

But I guess don't.

Speaker A

What was your power level at the time?

Speaker B

Oh well I, I think it was 550 and it was dropping 540.

Speaker B

But I, I, I have, I have.

Speaker A

An alt account too but gamer, look,.

Speaker B

I think they're both 550.

Speaker A

He's talking about leveling up.

Speaker A

It'll.

Speaker A

Yeah, if your level already is like 540 it'll drop you 530 stuff maybe anywhere in the world.

Speaker A

But if you want to level up doing a public events, if your 530 is not going to give you 540 gear, it'll drop you lower gear or at level gear.

Speaker B

Maybe a heroic one.

Speaker B

Maybe, maybe try a heroic public event.

Speaker B

See, I don't know.

Speaker B

It might drop you back.

Speaker B

I think I was getting 5, 550 level gear.

Speaker B

But if you're at 335 or 350 or whatever, I'm telling you up to a certain point anything you do in the game you're going to get 58 points higher on your any everything that drops and then you'll reach that plateau, that soft cap where then you have to start playing the portal stuff like Kingsley said and then you'll have to adjust and then, and what's nice is it does it in real time as you start adding modifiers it'll start, you know, it'll start giving you higher grades and it'll tell you what kind of gear and what tier gear you're going to get too.

Speaker B

So it's really straightforward, it's really nice.

Speaker B

But the problem is this reason a lot of us hated the Portals.

Speaker B

It was just there was wasn't enough content in there and it was just, just a lot of grind man.

Speaker B

It was just a lot of playing the same things over and over again.

Speaker A

There is content in There if you're willing to do the match me things, which Gator isn't.

Speaker A

So I have not had good luck.

Speaker B

With matchmaking in Destiny.

Speaker B

If I have friends who want to play, no problem.

Speaker B

But just being a solo player trying to matchmake, I've not had good luck.

Speaker B

And I don't know, maybe totally different for you, Uncle Skundes.

Speaker B

So don't let me talk.

Speaker B

You and most people.

Speaker B

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker B

So we have one more question left here.

Speaker B

And I thought this was kind of apropos since you wanted to mention a couple words.

Speaker B

Kingsley too, towards the end of the show here.

Speaker B

B. Leahy, 48, he says with this exciting announcement, are you going to keep the show weekly and ask Mike to stay in these troubled times?

Speaker B

We need both your strong hands to guide us through the exciting changes.

Speaker B

And I will just say this.

Speaker B

Our next show will be in two weeks.

Speaker B

It'll be October 8th.

Speaker B

We're going to have Mr. McMaximo on the show.

Speaker B

The other Todd.

Speaker B

We have three Todd's.

Speaker B

I think maybe even four Todd's in this Discord.

Speaker B

He's one of the other Todd's.

Speaker B

Zombie pops being one of the other ones.

Speaker B

But yeah, Kingsley, I thought you would might want to answer that question further.

Speaker A

I know, I, I, I kind of feel like he was.

Speaker A

Because it seemed like there was a smiley face at the end, but just in case he really was concerned or asking the question seriously and in case other people are wondering too.

Speaker A

Again, just to be perfectly clear, this has been a fun experience and just because though, even if there was like some really cool thing, like not just Destiny news, but some other really cool thing, like, oh my gosh, they're making this something that matches up with what I do.

Speaker A

Like this doesn't even make sense.

Speaker A

But they're making some Apple consultant Destiny.

Speaker A

I don't know, some game.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

I still wouldn't be doing the podcast regularly.

Speaker A

Sorry.

Speaker A

Yeah, and it's not because I'm not hasn't been fun.

Speaker A

It's just I need a break.

Speaker A

I.

Speaker A

How long?

Speaker A

Okay, so when, what year did you start again?

Speaker A

Because we started like three months before.

Speaker A

Yeah, Guardian.

Speaker B

Yeah, let's, let's look, let's give everybody a proper history here because you guys were probably six months ahead of us.

Speaker B

I think so.

Speaker B

I think you guys.

Speaker A

6.

Speaker A

I thought it was like three or four months.

Speaker B

It might have been three or four months, but when me and Hazel and Easy made the podcast was in 2019 of 2019 of July of April.

Speaker B

No, July.

Speaker B

July of 2019 is when we had episode one of Guardian down cast also.

Speaker A

Maybe we were six months then, because I think we were like Aprilish or so before that.

Speaker B

Well, you really want to see what was ahead of us?

Speaker B

The last remaining Destiny podcast, which is Two Titans and a Hunter.

Speaker B

They were at least a year ahead of us, I think.

Speaker B

I think they're on episode three.

Speaker A

83.

Speaker B

90 Something, I think right now.

Speaker B

I can't remember, but Night Demon has been doing that podcast for a long time.

Speaker B

But anyway, yes, you guys are about six, six months ahead of us.

Speaker B

So you've even been podcasting longer than I have.

Speaker B

And I thought I was the OG in the community, but like I said, I think you started in February of this year.

Speaker B

Was it January or this one?

Speaker B

Yeah, for this one.

Speaker B

When we went to the new.

Speaker B

The new format, with the new roundtable format.

Speaker A

That was the new format.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

And then.

Speaker A

And before that, were you here first of the year?

Speaker A

Longer was it?

Speaker B

First a year?

Speaker A

Yeah, I've been around longer than that.

Speaker A

That's just when we did the new format.

Speaker B

So you were here, what, in October of 2025?

Speaker A

I feel like.

Speaker A

I feel like it.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

I can't believe.

Speaker B

Man, it really does fly.

Speaker A

Someone do that.

Speaker A

See, I know.

Speaker A

It's so much has passed, we don't even remember.

Speaker A

Don't worry about the history, everyone.

Speaker A

But been doing this a long time and it really is just the only fact.

Speaker A

Like I said, even if there was something super exciting and look, I might do some podcasts again down the road.

Speaker A

Of course, I'm really willing to be a guest back on the show.

Speaker A

Or maybe like four years from now, I might start a technical podcast then.

Speaker A

Don't be like Kingsley.

Speaker A

Say he was never a podcast.

Speaker A

I didn't say that.

Speaker A

I just.

Speaker A

I don't want to be doing a weekly thing even anymore.

Speaker A

I would rather actually game.

Speaker A

It takes away from gaming or I'd rather actually be doing IR else stuff, you know, so that doesn't mean I didn't like.

Speaker A

It doesn't mean I didn't have fun.

Speaker A

Everyone, thank you so much.

Speaker A

And I don't want to kind of just, you know.

Speaker B

Yeah, I just.

Speaker B

I just want to say, I just want to give kudos to you that you've.

Speaker B

That you really committed for what, at least 8.

Speaker B

8 To almost a year, maybe possibly almost a year.

Speaker B

You've been, you, you know, you canceled your podcast and moved over here and.

Speaker B

Dude, that's already a big commitment.

Speaker B

I don't think a lot of people don't realize how much podcasting a commitment it is.

Speaker B

It really is because become a part of your life and just between all the work and you have to dedicate and you have to have your mind space, you know, you know what topics are coming up and stuff.

Speaker B

There's a lot of work in a podcast.

Speaker B

It's not the easiest thing to do.

Speaker B

And I just give you kudos and I really appreciate you coming aboard and helping me out because I was, you know, I was to the point where I really just didn't want to try to have to find people all the time to join me on the podcast.

Speaker B

And I really never wanted to do this podcast solo, so I always wanted someone I could talk to with and mainly bounce stuff off of, you know, and I think it.

Speaker B

I think you complimented the show perfectly because we both kind of have a.

Speaker B

We both love Destiny, but we both have different kind of different viewpoints on gaming and stuff and our gaming lifestyle.

Speaker B

So I thought it worked out pretty good.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker A

Yeah, and going back to that again too, I just really wanted to, like, say was super cool when you, you reached out to me because I think I mentioned also, like, and I even like, when I was doing Guardian Hub podcast, I'm like, and of course we would be guests on each other's shows and stuff, but when, when I was not wanting to head up a podcast anymore, I actually, and that's the reason why I stopped Guardian down or, sorry, Guardian Hub, because you can see the transition.

Speaker A

Like, yes, like Todd said, like, even though I don't want to do this weekly as a guest, I used to also do it as the main person, just like Todd's the main person for this one.

Speaker A

And, and then also Sen was feeling a little, little burnt out also.

Speaker A

But so it was easy for us to say, okay, we're, we're finished doing that one.

Speaker A

But I was even thinking in my head, well, like, I still would be okay podcasting some as a co host, not as the main person putting the show together.

Speaker A

And I thought, like, it would be kind of cool to podcast with Todd and guarding down because I knew you didn't have a set guest at the time.

Speaker A

And it was so funny.

Speaker A

Like, shortly after that, you texted me.

Speaker B

It was like, it was like, it was just like.

Speaker B

It was fate, man.

Speaker A

Yeah, it was meant to be.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

Because you were.

Speaker B

I never heard you so excited.

Speaker B

I was, I mentioned, hey, man, I wanted to just talk to you a sec.

Speaker B

And I said, you know, I, I'm really, I really don't want to be having to wonder who's going to be on the show.

Speaker B

Next week, you know, and I need.

Speaker B

I need more of a solid co host.

Speaker B

And I said I couldn't think of anybody better because you have been doing it for so long around the Destinyverse, like I have.

Speaker B

We both have good knowledge of Destiny.

Speaker B

And yeah, you were like, oh, my God, I was just thinking about that because me and I haven't told you yet, but Kingsley and I have decided.

Speaker B

I mean, sorry, Sin.

Speaker B

And I have decided to go ahead and end Guardian Hub.

Speaker B

And I was like, oh, dude, I didn't even know that.

Speaker B

And it just.

Speaker B

It just was the perfect flow, you know?

Speaker B

But here's the thing.

Speaker B

You never got a break from podcasting.

Speaker B

You went from one podcast right into another podcast.

Speaker B

And I mean, let's be honest here.

Speaker A

Our.

Speaker B

My podcast is a little bit longer than.

Speaker B

Than Guardian Hub.

Speaker B

You guys.

Speaker B

You guys would have some long shows.

Speaker A

Too, but they weren't sometimes After Dark to make it longer.

Speaker B

Of course, of course.

Speaker B

And.

Speaker B

But I think I always pack a lot into every show.

Speaker B

And now probably that's my fault because I try to talk about too much in one show where I could probably break it up more.

Speaker B

But I have that one week, you know, to talk about what's on my mind.

Speaker B

And like I said, sometimes it gets up to that three hour mark, and that's a long time for a podcast man.

Speaker B

So I just appreciate you hanging out, just like.

Speaker A

Of course.

Speaker A

And like I said, though, I just.

Speaker A

I want to give just so much appreciation again because I know that you put so much work into the show.

Speaker A

And so like, I will always appreciate and look back to good memories.

Speaker A

Don't want to get mushy here or anything, but just really want to give the appreciation of being on the show and it's been a good ride and everything, and this is the best way it can go anyways.

Speaker A

So many podcasts, people just end abruptly or some host leaves because of some drama or whatever.

Speaker A

And I think this is just a perfect good ending for me.

Speaker A

Not even ending per se, but, you know, ending for doing it regularly, but.

Speaker A

You know what I mean?

Speaker A

But yeah, but yeah, really appreciate it.

Speaker A

I just want to say very, very strongly.

Speaker A

Thank you so much, Todd.

Speaker B

Absolutely, Mike.

Speaker B

I've had a great time, man.

Speaker B

I've always looked forward to every Thursday being able to talk with you.

Speaker B

And thank you, man.

Speaker B

I mean.

Speaker B

Cause it takes two to tango in a podcast.

Speaker B

You know, you.

Speaker B

You have to mentally be prepared.

Speaker B

And you.

Speaker B

You also had topics and stuff that you prepared every week too.

Speaker B

So it was just.

Speaker B

I'm not really sad because I know we're going to have you back on.

Speaker B

And I'll tell you what, man, I have met so many amazing people over this past year that have been on the show.

Speaker B

And even years past, I've had so many great people on this show that I'm really not worried about finding people to be on the show every couple weeks because we have such a great community.

Speaker B

And I can probably tell you 12, 15 people I can reach out to that'll say, no problem, I'll be there next week that just love being on the show and love talking with me, and I love talking with them.

Speaker B

And we've met a lot of new guests that might possibly be back on our show as well.

Speaker B

So that's why I'm not really sad because I'm kind of making the change with you, man, because I'm not going to be doing a weekly thing either.

Speaker B

And when you started talking about it earlier, I said, you know what, I've already been thinking about this, that I really want to do something with my son.

Speaker B

And we've got some ideas and we've already got the show name and the artwork and everything, and we've got everything already laid out just sitting there ready to just plug in and go.

Speaker B

And I've just been putting it off and putting it off.

Speaker B

And the main reason I've been putting it off is because it takes so much energy to prepare a weekly gaming podcast and especially on a game, you know, a new topics and stuff that you're not very familiar with.

Speaker B

I mean, we could Destiny talk.

Speaker B

You can see we easily can talk about destiny because we have so much experience playing it.

Speaker B

But when it comes to gaming topics in the world and stuff that come up, I'm learning like everybody else.

Speaker B

So I'm not really the expert in a lot of these areas.

Speaker B

And I kind of have some takes that maybe people have called me, called me out, said, nah, man, you're wrong.

Speaker B

And I'm like, oh, okay.

Speaker B

Well, the reason I bring it on the show is to talk about it.

Speaker B

But I was in the same boat as you, Kingsley.

Speaker B

I really didn't want to do a weekly gaming show.

Speaker B

It does take a lot of work.

Speaker B

And my son approached me and said, listen, Dad, I said, I'd like to do a podcast with you.

Speaker B

And I'm like, I've been waiting for him to say that because I. I've been wanting, I have an idea of that we can really do a really cool podcast.

Speaker B

And it's more real life.

Speaker B

It's more real life problems and stuff.

Speaker B

You know, Gen X versus Gen Z, different viewpoints and stuff.

Speaker B

I think it'll be a good, I think it'll be a good show, so.

Speaker B

But it's not going to take away from what I do every two weeks here and I'll be going live like I always do and nothing will ever really change for the show.

Speaker B

It's just how often we, we put it out.

Speaker B

I have to, I have to allow the time for the other stuff as well in my life, so.

Speaker A

Well, that, yeah, that's about it.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

But I'll still be.

Speaker A

When I'm not playing a game or IRL something, I'll try to be in the chat and say hi to you guys or whoever's on and stuff, so.

Speaker B

Absolutely.

Speaker B

And you know, we still have our, our RAID teams.

Speaker B

Every Saturday we'll be.

Speaker B

Oh, yeah, playing that every Saturday.

Speaker B

So it's not like I'm not going to be out of touch with these guys.

Speaker A

Exactly.

Speaker B

Still be playing something every week.

Speaker B

It's just we won't have a formal show we have to do every week.

Speaker B

So let's see.

Speaker B

Amazing Taco King.

Speaker B

Tell Bleehy not to worry, I'll be around and chat to smack Todd around with a hard and firm hand.

Speaker B

I don't know how to take that.

Speaker B

Amazing Tiger King.

Speaker B

Also, without the show, Kingsley wouldn't have met me.

Speaker B

And me being his new best friend.

Speaker B

His words, not mine.

Speaker B

He did call me his friend, though.

Speaker B

I have it in writing and it means it's legally binding.

Speaker B

I, I just, I, I just love the live shows, man.

Speaker B

I love being able to talk to the chat and of course some reason Twitch went down tonight.

Speaker B

I have no reason, I have no understanding why.

Speaker B

But hopefully we'll have that all fixed in the next show.

Speaker B

But yeah, I base Window.

Speaker B

I love the banter as well, man.

Speaker B

It's, it's really a good time.

Speaker B

And like I said, I'm not really sad because it's not, it's, it's not the end of the show.

Speaker B

It's just, just we're formatting things a little differently and you'll, you may see more faces, different faces on the show in the future, so.

Speaker B

And it'll be this guy too, so it'll be a lot of fun.

Speaker B

Speaker B

Another great show.

Speaker B

Thanks to my co host Mr. Kingsley Mack.

Speaker B

This being his last regular appearance on the show, he'll be back in future episodes, but I always look forward to bouncing off my ideas every week, even if he rolled his eyes at me half the time.

Speaker B

Again, thanks to Kingsley Mac for all the great episodes that we've created together.

Speaker B

But as I was thinking about last night's live show, which sometimes I do when it's a heavy subject like that Bungie announcement, I realized that we sounded so pessimistic when discussing our thoughts on Destiny's quote restoration.

Speaker B

But what I realized is that we as longtime Destiny Guardians this isn't exactly what us being a downer on the whole topic, but I think it's because we are frustrated players who still can't believe that the Destiny franchise was put in the bin, as our UK members would say.

Speaker B

Did I get that right?

Speaker B

I find it perplexing why Bungie is pushing forward a game that only did slightly better than the famed Concord debacle with Marathon, and yet keeps spending human capital on development, thinking that little tweaks here or there will change our mind.

Speaker B

Suddenly this game was Bungie's PvP game and now it's becoming something else.

Speaker B

Who knows, maybe it'll work.

Speaker B

Remember what Fortnite was before it became the behemoth that it is today.

Speaker B

Maybe my beloved Embark Studios should also sit up in their I'm sure very contemporary Dutch made office chairs and realize that they should stick with what made their original games so beautiful.

Speaker B

It's apparent that this game is super appealing as a sci fi dystopian adventure game, wandering through these beautiful worlds that they've created.

Speaker B

It so reminds me of the original battlefield maps if you infuse them with some of that Destiny magic, and maybe that's why I'm so drawn to them.

Speaker B

But creating a PvP environment into what is a really cool topside adventure is like putting a French horn on top of a Steinway and Sons Model D. That's a piano for you non musical types.

Speaker B

It just doesn't make sense.

Speaker B

Hey, I bought both these games, so why not see what they're going to be putting into it?

Speaker B

But here's why.

Speaker B

I'm sitting here in my recording room rewriting my outro to this week's show.

Speaker B

It's the fact that we as players have shaped Bungie's decision to bring back the Destiny game.

Speaker B

In what form, we don't know yet.

Speaker B

And I'm still holding out hope that they are at least thinking about that Destiny Online concept that I've been talking about for nearly four years now.

Speaker B

Yeah, I can see some of you rolling your eyes at me right now.

Speaker B

I can see you.

Speaker B

Let's leave this week's episode on a good note.

Speaker B

There is a future for the Destiny game that alone should be all we care about at this point.

Speaker B

I'm excited to see what Bungie has in store for us beyond just putting back content that we purchased long ago.

Speaker B

You know, the new worlds, the new enemies, and the beautiful stories that I'm sure Allison Lures will be hard at work helping to create.

Speaker B

And of course, the loot.

Speaker B

The loot.

Speaker B

That's why we play.

Speaker B

I can't wait.

Speaker B

So with all that being said, what do you think?

Speaker B

Give us your feedback.

Speaker B

Whether it's in our Discord community.

Speaker B

That's Discord.

Thank you all so very much for listening.

Speaker B

Speaker A

Guardian.

Speaker A

Over time.

Speaker B

Let's do this.

Speaker A

That's.

Speaker B

That's all I got, Kingsley.

Speaker B

I appreciate everybody for meeting with us live every week.

Speaker B

And like I said again, I would just want to reiterate, there won't be a show next week.

Speaker B

Next Thursday, October 1st, there won't be a show.

Speaker B

It'll be October 8th.

Speaker B

The following Thursday, McMaximo will be on the show with us and we'll get to catch up with him and talk.

Speaker B

And of course, we'll have some topics to talk about.

Speaker B

Maybe we'll have some more news from Bungie to talk about.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

We'll just have to go with the flow and see how things go.

Speaker B

But I think this will be Todd's Magma's first live show with us.

Speaker B

The last time I interviewed him, he was in a in a big rig in a parking lot hooked up to Internet somewhere.

Speaker B

So I'm looking forward to talking with him.

Speaker B

It'll be kind of fun.

Speaker B

Again, thank you every night, Kingsley, for being on the show.

Speaker B

Thank you, Chat for hanging out with us tonight.

Speaker B

Love you guys.

Speaker B

And that.

Speaker B

That's it.

Speaker B

I think that's our show for this week.

Speaker B

So whether in life or in your games, get your reps in later.

Speaker A

Guard.

Speaker A

Thank you, everyone.

Speaker A

I love you all so much.

Speaker A

Have a good life.

Speaker B

Sam.

Speaker A

Florida is, like, considered the Caribbean.

Speaker A

It's barely connected to the U.S. you know what I mean?

Speaker B

It's like, here we go, here we go.

Speaker A

We're gonna slander its own little island.

Speaker B

All right, everybody's a jokester today.

Speaker A

Sam.
